Hi, both "folders" are empty on my system. not a single entry.

Also when I set this registry value to 0: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FTH\Enabled which disabled FTH for the whole system.
Also some suggested renaming eg. MediaMonkey.exe -> 1MediaMonkey.exe and trying to start it.
tried both, no change.

Windows Server 2019 starting and plays music ok.
Windows Server 2022 starting and plays music ok.
Debug log submitted in ticket for Win Srv 2k16;
I am using MediaMonkey on my Retro Systems, using the latest Beta build on Windows 11. Managing ~53k files
retested 3038 to: runs for me (edit: on 2016!).
Installation and database update without (visible) errors, playing music (for 10mins) via RDP right now.
i will report anything that happens, thank you so far for the update!

I'm sorry to have to curb your enthusiasm, but things aren't going quite smoothly yet (not sure if the following is tied to the "windows server"-thing, or to the new version (i upgraded from 5.0.4.2960)
- The automatic monitoring of folders does not recognize new tracks in new folders in what feels like 30% of the cases, it has to be scanned manually. As in the older version, recognizing new tracks in existing folders (aka adding missing/additional tracks to existing albums/folders) does not work at all. was the same in 5.0.4., so i'm kind of "used to it", just saying here.
- the really big problem: sync and DLNA:
Sync: Of my 3 Android devices, on one device every second sync process aborts with "server does not respond", one device doesn't sync at all with the same message, haven't been able to test the third yet. The message appears in different places: when converting MP3 (in my case: bitrate reduction), when transferring new tracks, when transferring playlists. If I repeat the sync process enough times, I eventually "get through" it, but it's tedious.
DLNA: As soon as I close the Mediamonkey GUI on my server, the DLNA/Upnp server disappears from the Mediamonkey Android (and all other, tested: Smart TV, XBOX) clients.
What I've tried so far: the service was shown as "stopped" in the sharing settings and can't be found in the list of Windows services. I tried to repair it using "Remove Service" and then "Install as Service". The service is now in the status "running", but I still can't find it in the Windows services.
is this working as intended?

1) Folder monitoring: There are no such known issues (I just retested on Win 11 for tracks in the monitored folder or child of the monitored folder; we haven't tested on Windows server although that shouldn't make a difference). Before we test in greater detail, is there anything else you can tell us about when the failure occurs? e.g. is it with specific file types? while playing the files in question? etc.
2) For the device for which sync fails partway through the operation, can you run MMA, replicate the bug, and then submit a debug log (from the menu, click Help > Send logs) and share the log ID here?
For the device for which sync fails completely (and assuming that MMA and other UPnP apps can connect to the UPnP server without issue), can you do a clean install of MMA / delete the sync profile and see whether starting afresh solves the problem? See: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... c-profile/
note: I vaguely recall an issue in which Wi-Fi syncing multiple devices at the same time triggered an issue like this, but this is working when syncing MMA 2.0 with the current MMW 3038 beta.
3) Re. the UPnP Service failing, if you've installed UPnP as a service, that's definitely not working as it's supposed to (though we haven't tested on Windows Server). We'll retest and get back to you...
EDIT: restested on Windows 10--no issues.
So. I completely uninstalled MediaMonkey, cleaned up the paths and registry, and reinstalled it.
folder monitoring: works now as in 5.0.4: Changes to files that have already been scanned are recognized immediately, as are newly added folders. Files that are copied into existing folders (aka: completing incomplete albums) are still not recognized, there's a manual scan needed.
sync: works fine now. no idea what problem i had, it has apparently disappeared.
DLNA: works fine, as long as mediamonkey (GUI) is open on my mediaserver. as soon as i close the GUI, the server is no longer visible on another computer with MediaMonkey .3038 (portable) or for Android devices. Pretty sure, this is related: i still cant see any "mediamonkey"-Service under the windows service panel.

Yes, I did, and that's probably part of the problem. The user under whom MMW is installed and running is a domain user (with domain admin rights). When creating the service, MMW creates the service account not in the domain notation "domain\User", but as ".\User".
I still couldn't find the service in the Control Panel, but in the Registry, and then in the Control Panel when I log in with another, local (aka non-domain) admin account. I can at least correct the login details there. Nevertheless, the service ends when I work with the "main" account again and close MMW there.
There's some strange rights issue going on here, but I can't quite figure it out; the whole thing probably depends so much on my configuration (Windows server, domain user, etc.) that I think this is no longer a support case and I have to live with “GUI must remain open”. Everything else seems to be working, and in the medium term I have to consider migrating the platform to Windows non-server/non-domain.
Thank you all for diggin' in.

Note that the MediaMonkey Service should stop when MediaMonkey itself is launched, and start again when closing MediaMonkey. That's expected behavior, but obviously nothing has been tested for Windows Server nor with domain accounts.
