Hello,
I recently had to update to the latest version of MM2024 (2024.0.0.3051) from the current release version of MM5 because of issues with OneDrive backup.
I'm not sure exactly when precisely the issue began, but today I tried playing some older music in my library (from when I was using iTunes) that is in ALAC format. These have worked previously when I was using MM5, but now unfortunately are giving me the following error:
Playback failed: MediaMonkey cannot decode [file location and name]
This issue seems predominantly (exclusively? haven't noticed any exceptions) to be with music specifically downloaded (might exclusively be from Bandcamp?) in ALAC format and not that which I have ripped to ALAC from CD (thankfully, as that makes up a LOT of my library). However, it is still a significant proportion of my music library and I'd really like to not have to track down downloads for all of the tracks in question in FLAC (even if I plan to convert that way in due course) as I'm not sure all of the downloads for this music is still live.
When this happened, I did purchase the MM5 codec pack and install, which seems to have sorted out the issue for some but unfortunately not all of the music. Indeed, this doesn't even seem to affect entire albums; I have one album of 13 tracks for which a single one of the thirteen tracks still function. Another where only one of nine tracks functions.
Would really love some help before I go and try and redownload every single album that's having issues...

Re: Playback failed: MediaMonkey cannot decode (ALAC files)
Have just done so!
In finding ones that specificall fail, I think I have since worked out some kind of correlation as to which tracks appear to fail: tracks with a bit depth of 24 appear to fail whilst those with a bit depth of 16 appear to play no problem. It appears that specifically ALAC files of bit depth 24 encoded with the Lavf encoder are failing.
I think at least some tracks with a bit depth of 16 also appeared to fail prior to installing the MM5 codec pack. But all worked prior to updating from MM5 (5.0.5.2695) to MM2024 (2024.0.0.3051).
