File Not Accessible (MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695)
Hi,
I've used MediaMonkey for 2 decades. My library starts in 2004. I love my play counts, so I hate 'just to delete' and rescan.
I have a library of 75292 albums and 900545 tracks
I've set up my christmas playlist. Was just playing tonight.
Suddenly some tracks got "File Not Accessible". I googled and found out, that the location may have changed.
So I looked at the tracks which had become 'not accessible' and I found the path had been changed, it now looked like:
ZMusic]\Music\R\Rebecca Hart\2024 - Emmanuel\Rebecca Hart - Emmanuel - 01 - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (Feat. Michael W. Smith).flac
while the real track path was:
Z:\Music\R\Rebecca Hart\2024 - Emmanuel\Rebecca Hart - Emmanuel - 01 - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (Feat. Michael W. Smith).flac
It has changed for some but not for most.
How do I reset path from "ZMusic" to "Z:\" to make them play again AND keep their playcount?
Thank you.

Re: File Not Accessible
Are you using a Mapped Drive of a network location? Then you ran into a Windows bug changing its driveID. You should be able to manually re-assign in MediaMonkey to fix this.

Hi,
Thank you for getting back.
No, this is an internal drive Z:, it's been like that for the past year.
I was just playing music. No changes to the computer at all.
I've tried to select the files and make a rescan, but they are not found.
The files are in the correct location on Z:\ and I've not moved them around at all today.
I have MANY others files on Z:\ and most of them are still playing. Just about few thousand suddenly got the wrong path

The files are not duplicated.
(tried that nightmare a few years ago - still have the script you guys kindly sent me to correct the problem).
The files are just in there. Once I try to play them I get the little pop-up box, file not accessible. and the track get 'grey'.
If I try to locate them, they they are not found and stay as single files greyed out.
A number of albums I've not played yet. Those I've deleted "in library only" and then rescanned the library and since the files are in the correct location, they are now just added to the library again in the correct way (just with a different added date.
But the problem is, they look OK, until you try to play them, then they get grey. So basically any number of tracks could be wrong and I'll only find out when I try to play them. I've not checked all 900K tracks (sure you understand )

Re: File Not Accessible (MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695)
Ok.
Just tried this. I opened this file, which was greyed out, it had this file location:
ZMusic]\Music\++Various++\2019 - The Great Songs Of Christmas\Various - The Great Songs Of Christmas [Classic Carols & Pop Favorites] - 20 - Silent Night (Mark Lindsay).flac
So I manually in Location changed it to:
Z:\Music\++Various++\2019 - The Great Songs Of Christmas\Various - The Great Songs Of Christmas [Classic Carols & Pop Favorites] - 20 - Silent Night (Mark Lindsay).flac
Now it plays fine. Tried a few others too and it works with them as well.
Since I have 900K files it would take a loooong time to manually check them all.
Is there a way to go in and change all instances of "ZMusic]" to "Z:"

Did you try the above recommended re-assign drive?

Re: File Not Accessible (MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695)
I've read the Wiki:
Under Location, I see my Z: [Music] drive
https://imgur.com/KhPZmGT
When I right-click and then chose Media Properties:
https://imgur.com/wE65vBo
and press OK.
The setting were correct and the files in MM still don't have the correct path.
BUT, as you see, under z: I have "Music", "Music]" and "ZMusic]". The last one "ZMusic]" is the name in the inaccessible files and apparently I also have some "Music]".
Can I solve the problem by renaming those two folders?

You're working on the working Z drive instead of the non-working ZMusic] drive. You need to fix the ZMusic] instead.

Re: File Not Accessible (MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695)
OK, so how do I do that?
I can right click on z: [Music] and there I get "Media Properties"
https://imgur.com/nCYEFO2
I then get this:
https://imgur.com/NjITwUb
In there all the information is correct.
If I right click on "Music", "Music]" or "ZMusic]" I don't get "media properties and i don't seem to be able to change anything.
Under "Music]" there was only one file, in properties I manually changed the File Location and it now is under "Music" and is playable.
Under "ZMusic]" there are listed a few files. BUT I have more files in my playlist, which is not listed, but which also have the same wrong path.
(thank you so much for your quick help, I'm not rude, work in a few hours, will come back and read tomorrow.

I saw the initial image wrong. It's not a drive entry, instead it's a folder entry. That's really strange.
For that you only have Locate Moved/Missing Files as solution.

Re: File Not Accessible (MediaMonkey 5.0.5.2695)
Given these locations looking like folder names that somehow appeared, (so far no explanation how this could have happened) I am wondering if these misnamed subfolders actually exist on the drive, as viewed with windows file explorer, and if they contain any files?
If not how did mediamonky manage to create them?
If you sort on the "path" or "Folder" field, it is easy to see which and how many files are affected. Are all of those files still physically located in their original location in the Z:/ drive?
Have you been able to get the "locate moved/missing" to work in bulk???

Hi Rob_S
These folders does not exist on my drives and never have.
The files are still in their original location in the Z: folder. If I manually in Options change ZMusic] to Z:, then the files plays no problem.
I have not been able to "Locate moved/missing" any of them. That option doesn't find the files an correct the path. When I first wrote this post I afterwards manually chaned 100's of location from ZMusic] to Z:.
Then it happened again this morning. I've opened a ticket.
