As best I can tell this morning, in the latest beta 3162, the following is working again:

Just slide (drag and drop ) the desired play first or already playing track to the top of the Playing list, and then right-click, play now(shuffled). All one single mouse movement.

If you have bookmarking turned on, the track will continue playing from where you left off, and play all the remaining tracks shuffled.

So the only way to do this is to stick with MM5?

If you double click the file you want to start playback at it should add the whole list and play the clicked file.

You need to make sure that Default 'Play now' action is set to Play selected + subsequent and that Shuffle (On): Entire List is enabled for this to work.

If this doesn't work, can you please describe what node in the Media Tree and what View in the Filelisting you're using? A screencast would be the most helpful in troubleshooting this.

Summary:

The new Option > Player > Shuffle (On): [x] 'Entire list' option overrides '...play selected + subsequent' to play the entire list (starting with whatever track has been double-clicked) when 'Shuffle' is active. Behaving similarly to MM5 except that the playing list displays the actual play order.

When this option is disabled, then when 'Shuffle' is active it won't modify the 'Play now' action (and will behave the same as 2024.1).

Thanks for the feedback to get this feature implemented.

Like I said I'm on beta 3162 and I have Clear list & play selected + subsequent selected and Shuffle (On) Entire list checked. I have Shuffle enabled.

I select a playlist from the Playlists section of the Media Tree and double-click a song from the List View. But I still get the old behavior of only shuffling subsequent tracks, but not the entire list.

I have captured a debug log and submitted it to a ticket (#13542). Hopefully you can see something useful in the log.
