Unable to remove lyrics from song [#18645 #18646 #18663]

There is a song that has the wrong lyrics (pulled from one of the lyrics services by MM5). If I right-click the track, go to Properties, then the Lyrics tab, I can highlight everything and delete it, click OK. But when I go back in the lyrics are still there. Even if I put something else in the field, it is overwritten with the wrong lyrics (i.e. not changed.)
How can I remove the lyrics and get them to stay gone?
MM 5.0.2.2523

What file format? Is the file writable?
If so, could you send me the affected file? I would analyze it. Upload it to some file sharing service and PM me link, thanks.

It's any of my music files. mp3 files of any bitrate. Other fields are editable, but apparently not the lyrics.

One other question: do you have Tools > Options > Metadata Lookup > Background metadata lookup:Lyrics enabled?
If so, then I guess the issue is that in some cases MM is auto-looking up lyrics after you've deleted them?

EDIT: there's another more severe issue--edits to the lyrics in the Properties dialog when they're in the 'Unsaved' state aren't commited:

Thanks!

Unfortunately even after Background metadata lookup:lyrics is unchecked, it still will not save any edit to lyrics...

Have you checked the tracks with an external tool like MP3Tag or anything like that? Mabye there are multiple Tags stored (v2.1, v2.3, APE, whatever), and MMW edit/saves just one of them, but shows another?

fyi, issue #18646 is fixed and will be included in the next build. I'm pretty sure that's what was being reported.

Unfortunately the issue I'm reporting is NOT fixed in build 2527...
EDIT: Apparently I can remove one line, and it appears to save, but then if I remove ALL lines and click OK, it reverts back to having all of the lyrics (including the line I removed.) This is with Update Tags and Update Lyrics unchecked under Settings > Metadata. Submitted under ticket #3328.

So this is 'mostly' fixed in the bugs tracked above -- it looks like the Lyrics pane on the right does not de-populate once the lyrics are removed however... they remain in the pane... ?
Running build 2528

Lyrics panel looks for lyrics by design always. As a workaround, if you want to disable this for some track, save e.g. space or 'No lyrics' as new lyrics.
This will be solved later as part of
