I've noticed that there is no option to right-click and turn off (un-tick) the "always on top" option like there was on mm4.

Is the option there and I just can't find it?
Is it not available yet? And, if so can we please have this option available.

If not available yet; does anyone have a hack or another program that would force the miniplayer to the background?

MiniPlayer is designed to be always on top in MediaMonkey 5.

not a great design..it would be nice to have the option to have it in the background just like mm4 had.

Not at the moment. The main window can go behind, you also have the MicroPlayer and the taskbar popup for quick access to MediaMonkey while not being on top.
