@FidoCat
I don't give up easily.

Strange the sorting function would be placed in the unrelated Choose Columns dialog.
You "right-click=context menu" in a column heading and then choose "Choose columns/Sort". THIS IS WRONG.

Image 1: shows the playlist ascending by Order-Number#
If I sort by "Genre", the order after Order-Number# is mixed up and at the same time appears:

I have tested all skins - all work correctly.

Not sure what you meant
You "right-click=context menu" in a column heading and then choose "Choose columns/Sort". THIS IS WRONG.
Are you saying this dialog should not contain the misleading word "Sort", and that sorting is accomplished by left-clicking on a column header, which is standard way of sorting tables???

If so, I agree, unless there is something intended in there we don't understand.

So now a new question - do you know a way to randomize my playlist or randomize the view and then save that order to my playlist?

I keep looking for a way to play in random order, and re-start where I left off last time.

Randomize is available in the Playing, but not available on Playlists themselves.

MediaMonkey also can't restart playback in a Playlist after you played it partially. AutoPlaylists can filter out recently played files and be based on a regular Playlist.

Fidocat wants to save the new numbering and cannot find the button for it.

Context menu to a playlist in the MediaTree - you can see everything else in my picture.

2. Download the Addon Randomise Playlist
3. Install the addon
4. Then look at my pictures again

Hi,
thanks for reporting, I can confirm that if the sorting is configured via the 'Choose column / sort' dialog then it fails to show the 'Save new order' button.
Workaround is to left-click the column header.

To be fixed as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19085

I submitted a ticket to support. They confirmed the behavior and it's slated to be fixed in the next release. There's a work-around, however. Instead of using the Column Choose dialog to specify the sort order, instead just click on a column to sort by that field. Then the Save New Order button appears. This work-around doesn't support the full multi-level sorting order of the dialog box. But at least it puts it in some kind of order.

It does very well.

Multi-sort is available when sorting on the column headers directly with Ctrl.
