MM5 as a client to another MM5?

Post by smellhole »

Hi.

I have MM5 Pro installed on FLEA2D2. That's all fine and dandy. I'd like to install MM5 Pro on another PC (ORCUS), but use it as a client to the MM5 on FLEA2D2. As in, both installs manage the same database. Is that possible?

Thanks.

Yes, via Media Sharing.

Oh, that's not what I meant. I have DLNA up and running and it all works just fine. What I mean is that I want to load up the MM5 Pro app on ORCUS, but have it point to the MM5 database on FLEA2D2.

It's just so I can use MM5 on ORCUS to manage my playlists and such, but I need the database to be the one on FLEA2D2. FLEA2D2 is an HDTV and I only ever "use" it by remoting in from ORCUS, and that doesn't work as well as running MM5 right on ORCUS.

Sorry, I'm not even sure if what I'm trying to do is possible.

You can share a database (however this is not necessarily recommended): https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... vironment/

And there is work being done on MediaMonkey Server: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=90809

Great! Thank you, sir. I'll try that.
