Upgrade to MMW5 with old MMA Device

I just upgraded from MMW4 to MMW5. All of my playlists seem to have come over fine. I have been syncing MMW to MMA on a portable device. My question is, will MMW5 recognize that device just as MMW4 did, or will it treat it as a new device? It seems to be wanting to copy over duplicate files, i.e., copy over all the files currently on MMW5, even though many of them are already loaded on MMA in the portable device.

Hi,
It should recognize the device, but it is always suggested to resync all, due teh fact that MM5 support much more than MM4.

Have you tried WiFi sync as it is more stable than USB sync due teh Microsoft MTP driver that is known to be unstable.

Thank you. No, I have not tried wifi sync. In older versions I know you had to pay for that, but in MMW5 is wifi sync included, or do you still have to pay for gold? Perhaps it is worth it if it is more stable.

MMA WiFi feature is PRO (paid). Apply for Beta and you should have free trial.

LIcense is tied to your account so you can migrate Pro to other devices,

Sorry for more questions, but I cannot find where this is. I have searched all over the mediamonkey website and on MMW, and cannot find either "About Mediamonkey" or "Become beta tester." Wi-fi Sync is a feature of MMA, not MMW. Thus you need to apply for beta testing (or pay for the wi-fi Sync feature) in the MMA App.

Thank you, that makes more sense. However, under "About Mediamonkey," I do not see, "Become beta tester." I have "Report a bug," "Send logs," and "Register for test builds." I am running MMA on a FiiO M9, and I installed MMA on it two years ago. Do I need to update the software? If so, how do I do it? I am not aware that the M9 can connect to the internet, or at least I have never done that.

Personally I would install Amazon Store, install MMA -> Purchase MMA Pro and you should have all that you need and have latest version available.

On FiiO devices best bet would be to sideload app.

Thanks for info! One question: if I purchase MMA pro, do I need to uninstall (somehow) the MMA that I already have installed on the FiiO, or will the new program just overwrite (if that is the correct word) the old version.

I think the process for fiio was:
1. Install MMA one from link on FiiO site (it is old amazon version)
2. Install Amazon Store https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/amazonapp
3. Start Purchase of Pro in MMA and/or try to install Latest MMA (It should install on top of old one.
4. Purchase pro and install it (it is separate app and both needs to be installed) to get PRO features.

Sorry, I misspoke. I have the M7, not the M9, which appears NOT to have wifi access. Is there an alternative way to install the amazon app store and upgrade MMA with this setup? Thanks
