So months ago I setup a Plex media server. I have Media Monkey 5 for Android (full version). I am really not familiar with home servers and the like.
All I want to do is give my MMA access to my Plex server so that I can have my large music collection on my phone but playing from my home server. Is there a guide here that shows how to accomplish the task? If not, can someone guide me in doing so?
Plex Media Server and MMA

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
This is only possible on the home network, and if you enable the DLNA Server in Plex. Then you should be able to access the Plex DLNA server through UPnP in MMA.

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
When you say home network what exactly are you referring to? I have a Synology DS220t home server and I use Plex to host my files. After your suggestion I have noticed I only see my files if I go under UPnP and then I see everything in pretty much folder style. I've been used to MM and the app just sorting everything by category when I had all my files on my phone (ie. artist, album, genre, etc.) from the main screen. Is the latter not possible because my media is coming from my home server instead of from an actual hardrive/sd card?
Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
Yes, the browsing is provided by the server, you can't scan UPnP content into MMA, thus no other browsing is available.
Home network is your local network. ie. it only works when you're home. Once you leave the house DLNA doesn't work.

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
So in my situation what would you recommend? I have thousands of mp3's that I now can't store internally on my phone like I did prior (new phone has no SD slot.)
I have all of these files on a portable hard drive as well as on the server. I am open to using another type of server or app that I can load my mp3's and playlists onto that will allow MMA to browse them. I also use the windows version of MM which is my primary way of adding files onto my collection and creating playlists.
Update to my previous question:
Are there any cloud services that are compatible with MediaMonkey for Windows and Android that will allow the latter to read/browse music files?
Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
If you want remote access to your Plex Server you can use the Plex app or Plex Amp App.

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
No, MediaMonkey only has on local network DLNA sharing (which technically can be accessed outside of the home), but would provide the same navigation through UPnP in MMA.

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
Let me join this rather oldish thread, please...
Would it be possible the other way round?
I have rather good sorted and in good shape data in the MediaMonkey 4 database (videoes mainly). Is it possible to give Plex server an entry to that and so get a fancy web frontend for it then?
(I don't know Plex very well, just fiddled a bit around with it on a Linux Debian machine, but not much...)

Re: Plex Media Server and MMA
No, Plex is standalone. So you'll need to run a Plex Server and scan your media curated by MediaMonkey 4.
