search tool

Post by duchmol »

Hello,
Just moved on a new laptop, and downloaded the last version of MMW5, but I don't find the fabulous search tool that I used on previous version where you can specify boolean condition (eg notation> 4 and bitrate < 320 for example)
Is this tool no longer available in standard version ?

Advanced Search is good because it is a wizard to help build complex queries if you don't know the search syntax..
It is also the only way to do compound queries, eg bpm > 200 AND bitrate > 300

But the normal search boxes have a reasonably powerful syntax that accomplish many things more directly, without a lot of hunt and peak clicking. Example:
bitrate:300..325 .... this finds tracks with bitrate between 300 and 325 see it used here

The syntax is described (vaguely) here.
Or hover the mouse over a Search box to see tooltip syntax hints, or press the F1 key when focus is the search box (takes you to the MM5 help page linked to above>
Want a dark skin for MM5? This is the one that works best for me .. elegant, compact & clear.
