Cache directory is defined as: E:\Users\

This is a valid directory.

I'm quite disappointed in MM5.

If that is defined as Cache folder then all subfolders are also consider part of Cache folder. I suggest that you just change Cache folder to "C:\Cache" or similar that will not contain any files you want in MM library.
