How to auto update album track date

Hi:

I have several compilation that has a single album date for each track. I want to change date for each track to date the track was actually release. For example:

Greatest Hits (Elton John album)
Released 1974.
Each track in Media Monkey has album date 1974.
But here are actual release date for each track.

Rocket Man - 1972
Daniel - 1973
Honky Cat - 1972
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - 1973
Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting - 1973
Your Song - 1970
Bennie And The Jets - 1973
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me - 1974
Border Song - 1970
Crocodile Rock – 1973

I tried using Auto Tag but I can’t see option for track date. See screenshot.



Currently using MM version 5.0.4.2690

I know that I can update track date manually but I wish to automate the process. Does anyone have a solution?

There is no original date lookup for MediaMonkey 5.

Note that the Original Date tag is designed for the track's original release date, while Date is designed for the Albums release date.

Thanks. So, I have made some errors. I have used track's original release date as Album release date.
I have made some corrections. But when I look up albums by Year, (see screenshot below) MM is displaying albums by release date. How can I make MM look up tracks by original date? In other words, I want to be able to look up tracks by Original release date, not by Album release date.

Use Years (orig.) in the Media Tree instead of Years.

I’ve started using Tracks by original dates. But every time I click on subnodes - All tracks, Albums, Genre, Artists, Album artists, the main panel view changes. See awful view below.



How can I create a single panel view to apply to all subnodes?

That's not possible, they're independent settings. So you'll need to change each, but that will be remembered, so it only needs to be done once for each sub-node.

One last question, when in Tracks by original dates tree, how can I filter by Genre, then by original year? I trying to filter all alternative rock for original year 2000s.

You can either use the Column Filter or apply a Filter.
