Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time

Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
Why is syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time.........ALWAYS SUCH A PAIN!?!?!
- Via cable sync you always get the 'proces is stuck' message
- Via Wifi it downloads/syncs just a few songs and then stops with the proces, showing the 'completed with errors' message
- The MM folders are placed everywhere in the main folder (internal/external), even when you clearly have set this up in the Sync Profile --> File Locations
But..........when after 100 attempts, MM finally is working properly, you should NEVER mess with the options again! So for the please Make MM more USER FRIENDLY!

Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
Which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using to Sync?
1. USB Sync issues are normally due to bad MTP drivers from the manufacturer: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... ync-fails/
2. Do you have any more details on this?
3. It sounds like you have both locations setup for Sync. Internal and External memory have their own individual Device Profiles. You can enable one or both for Sync. If Sync copies files to both locations it means you have both Device Profiles setup for Sync.

This has NOTHING to do with bad MTP. I've checked that already and yet you guys always put the blame on that, and you know that damn well too! Be more original

The S24 only has internal memory......it said that more as an example. Problem stays the same
Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
How about you devs make an easy tutorial/wizard/step-by-step-guide for new phones/users on how to make MMW and MMA work PROPERLY together? That would make life so much easier.
It is that there is no other good alternative for MM at the moment, because setting it up error-less is SUCH A DAMN CHORE and makes me so god damn furious each time! Just look at your index and the amount of posts there, that should tell you enough!

Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
We'd like to know the MediaMonkey for Windows version.
Please describe the issue with wi-fi Sync. We don't understand why SD card sync is being discussed if this isn't available in the first place.

2024.0.0.3018. And the Wifi error message:Lowlander wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2024 4:25 pm We'd like to know the MediaMonkey for Windows version.

Because on my previous phone, the Samsung S10E, it had an SD card. And even though I ordered MM to put everying in a single MM folder on that SD card, MM STILL decided to put it's folders everywhere on the main SD folder!
Completed with errors. Failed to convert (3159 tracks) <-- That's nearly all my songs
Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
You're using an old beta of MediaMonkey 2024. Can you please start with updating to the latest MediaMonkey 2024 release.

Why couldn't the previous MMW just 'update' to a newer version instead of you now telling me I have to install a complete new version?
Does wi-fi Sync continue to fail?
Just started again, but stopped soon after with the same errors

Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
Please capture the Sync failures in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643
This will help a developer analyze why this is happening.

1) The errors are showing on my phone, not the PC.Lowlander wrote: ↑Mon Sep 09, 2024 10:01 am Please capture the Sync failures in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643

2) You are the only ones who still work with that ancient DebugView. I have a VERY STRONG feeling that you guys are discouraging users this way in asking you guys for help.
I've got plenty of screenshots and my backup file of the phone settings if you want though......
Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
1) Is it also that MM hates VPN (ExpressVPN)? When MMW syncs with MMA for the first time? I have the feeling that MM doesn't like VPN at all when syncing, please be honest with us devs.
2) I've accidentally deleted a lot of songs of the PC, but they are still present on MMA, on the phone. Is there anyway I can sync those songs back to the PC?
3) When granting acces to Movies, Music, Pictures, Playlists for folders to be used in MMA, it only allows the folders to be in the phone's internal main folder (Samsung S24, Android 14), or else it would not be accepted ("Path 'Device memory/MediaMonkey' was not requested. Please....") I wanted to make a new folder, called MediaMonkey and create the MMA folders there, but that wouldn't be accepted, because that was not the main folder anymore? Any fixes for that as well?

Re: Syncing music to a new (android) phone for the first time
Oh, you're using a VPN, that's an important missing detail. VPN's can be restrictive in what they allow through: https://www.mediamonkey.com/support/kno ... e-network/ So, some VPN's will require configuration for this to work.
Does wi-fi Sync work fine when the device is on the local network, not connected to a VPN?
You can have Sync copy from device to PC.

No, disabling VPN doesn't help either

I DON'T want files to be removed from my PC. I deleted them by accident, outside of MM. MM has nothing to do with this. But help with this problem would still be helpfull, since the songs ARE still on my phone though
