[REQ] MM for Android TV

Post by goz »

My Smart TV has become my Media Hub (HDMI does great transport streams). I would love it if you could expand MM for android over to MM for Android TV. Currently I synchronize to a USB stick. Then walk it over to the TV and use VLC as the player. Not a very elegant solution, but it works. I would love to have the MM UI on my TV and sync directly to the TV. Since the TV's have limited resources, sync into USB storage connected to the TV would be Ideal.

Hi,
You can sideload MMA on Android TV (check your TV model on how to do that. I tested on Sony, Tesla, Panasonic, Grundig, TCL, Xiomi BOX, Nexus Player, NVidia Shield).

Unfortunately it is still not listed under Google TV apps, but it is planned for future versions.

Hi,
Just saw your thread. This is Mike Taku here, If you want an easier way to sync media to your Android TV without using a USB stick. One option is to connect your TV to your home network and stream directly from your PC or NAS. VLC can access network folders, or you can use apps like Plex or Kodi to sync and stream easily. If you stick with USB, some file managers can simplify the transfer process.
