Issue with MMA and Android 15

Post by andyross »

My Pixel 8 recently updated to Android 15, and I found a bug. Not sure if it's an Android bug or Media Monkey bug. MM is 2.0.1.1214 on the phone.

Basically, when I move to the next song, every second song will play for about a second, that pause for about 1/2 sec, then resume. Basically, one normal, one with the delay, repeat.

There are nearly 7000 files on the phone. I tried YouTube Music, but it's useless. Took several minutes to even display the files, and takes 10-15 seconds to even begin playing anything.

So again, not sure who's bug it is. Happens with both built-in speakers and Bluetooth. Any other app or way to play the on-device files to test?

Just had a duuuh moment and remembered VLC. I tried that (version 3.5.7), and no obvious problem. I can use next track with no pause every time

I got this update a couple of days ago and I've been having this same issue. Android 15 on a pixel 8 pro.

MMA just updated to 2.0.2.1222. This bug appears to be fixed.

I have to take that back. I thought it was OK on some initial tests, but it is doing it again.

Can you confirm that the issue is related to AAC tracks or it also happens with other formats?
Please, try to change "Audio transitions" from Gapless to None in Options/Playback/Audio and LMK.

That may have fixed it. In some extra testing, the bug was happening with both m4a and mp3 (I tested individual albums in both formats.)

The December update does contain an audio fix for all Pixel 7, 8, 9, and tablet. Don't have the update yet, so I'll see if that has any effect on the audio transition setting.

Latest (December 24) pixel update with the latest MMA version playing all AAC tracks still has the issue.
Changing transition from gapless to none seems to have solved the issue.
