MMW and Sonos Amps

Post by GerryB »

I am using MMW 5.0.5.2695 on my desktop PC and have an ethernet connection to my network. (wired). I also have six Sonos Amps connected to the same network with speakers in various rooms in my home. All six amps are visible to MMW and are selectable when I click on the "Play to Multi-Zone" option. My issue is that when I select more than one amp in the Multi-Zone configuration, the playback is out of sync between the different amps.

All the music I am playing is resident on the hard drive and in the MMW library.

Any thoughts on why things are out of sync and how to correct it would be appreciated.

Hi,
Unfortunately It is very hard that MM can do anything about it as Sonos controls playback (eg. buffering, playback, ...) MM acts as control point for Renderers (Multiple SONOS in your case) which means that actual renderer controls how it is decoded and when :(

I was working on possible solution and managed to Lower latency and lag to approximate 200-500ms, but that introduced dropouts and choppy sound on some devices. I really hope something can be done and that we can think of workaround that will work with different standards and manufacturers. For now it is not satisfactory.

Thanks for the response. I guess I'll just deal with it for now.
