Restore Database Error [#21455]

Post by jber80 »

Fresh Windows 10 and MM 2024.0.0.3082 install.

I'm restoring my database from where it has always been, on my networked NAS (Synology) where my media files also reside.
I click to restore the database and get "Application throw an exception Error reading zip file". I have a whole bunch of backups and databases I can choose (pictured below), but all of them create this same error.

Makes me think the files aren't the issue...?

UPDATE - 01:

I simply put the database file into a zip file then tried it, it no longer gives the error. It accepts and auto-restats MM....but it restarts with nothing in the library/playlists.

UPDATE - 02:

Decided to import my entire music folder and everything is coming in with ratings and genres in tact. I'm not sure what the benefit of the database might be...? I suppose I lost my playlists, but luckily I only used maybe 5 that I can easily remake.

Thanks for reporting, newer backups use ZIP as more can be backed up, then just the database. MediaMonkey seems to be expecting a ZIP when restoring, tracking as: https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=21455

You should be able to renaming the backup to mm5.db and place this in the database location, then start MediaMonkey to restore manually as a workaround.

Besides Playlists, you'd also get Play History back.

FYI: The issue of not accepting DB (just ZIP) has been already fixed in 2024.1.0.3102

So use 2024.1.0.3103 : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=86639&sd=d
and you will be able to restore *.DB again
