MM2024 deletes files off the hard drive without prompting

I've been trying to add some video files, but MM2024 is incredibly resistant to getting everything set up.

I add the files, no problem.

I tag the files. MM auto-organizes the files on the hard drive, updates the tags in the database, but fails to update the filenames in the database. Now the new videos are just dead links.

I attempt to manually update the filename in MM. I copy the filename from Explorer, paste it into MM, and move to the next file.

MM then deletes the file from both Explorer and the database. Doesn't even send it to the Recycle Bin -- meaning that I can wait a day or weeks for a file to download, and then it's just gone without warning.

This is, needless to say, incredibly infuriating.

I've had no such problems with music files.

Presumably you're using Auto-Organize (not manually use Organize Files that is causing the issue? If so, please capture the issue in a debug log (step 4b) and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86643

With Dead Links please try Locate Moved/Missing Files instead.

Yes, I'm using Auto-Organize.

It took a while to replicate, but I've just uploaded a screencast and debug logs.

Tools -> Options -> Library -> Auto-Organize is designed to work in Background without prompt as it also works while MM is installed as service (which can't present you with confirmation).

It really depends on your settings, because it is very strange that MM started to do that out of sudden on a feature that was not changed in functionality for years.

We will see what log and screen cast show.

If it helps, I can confirm that this problem goes back several years.

I've had this issue (very infrequently) since MM5, and maybe as far back as MM4. IIRC, I may have already asked about it here years ago, but I was never able to capture it in debug before.

Hi,
Main problem is that in MM core we added checks to prevent that, often users will have multiple confirmations.

Please try as we would like to find and fix it.
