Hello,

If I have a mediamonkey launched, and I put my WIndows machine into hibernation mode, when it wakes up, the audio is muted, I have to toggle the volume slider to mute to hear the audio which is a pain if I need to change the volume because I have to move the slider then click on mute again. If I close Mediamonkey and wait a few minutes the volume slider and audio works as it should. This has been an issue for a while, and only Mediamonkey causes this issue. Is there a setting to make this not be an issue, or is it a bug?

It sounds like you're using MediaMonkey for Windows instead? If so, which Build (Help > About) of MediaMonkey are you using and which Output Plugin?

Yes, I am using the Windows version of MediaMonkey 2024.2.0.3166. Earlier versions of MediaMonkey and Windows 11 had the same issue. It took me a while to figure out that it's only happening when I have MediaMokey running when I go into hibernation.

As for output plugin it is MediaMonkey DirectSound output out_MMDS.dll but it also happens with AISO dll version v0.67 SSE2 out_aiso.dll

And presumably the issue is in Windows Volume, not in the MediaMonkey volume, and without MediaMonkey running the Windows Volume remains unaffected by hibernate?

Yes, the issue is with Windows volume. After waking from hibernation, if I want to hear any system sounds like Chrome, YuuTube, Netflix, etc. including Media Monkey music, I need to set Windows volume to mute. If I close Media Monkey, a few minutes later, Windows volume works normally. It definitely has something to do with MediaMonkey. And yes, without MediaMonkey Windows volume remains unaffected by hibernate.

Hopefully this will give an insight to why this happens on your setup.

I don't want to spend the time going through all the Steps of 4b. I have lived with the issue for a while now when I didn't know it was specific to MediaMonkey, now that I know it is, I thought it prudent to notify you to see if you had a workaround or a fix.

If I am the only person having this issue, it is not worth me jumping though all the hoops of Step 4b, or your time to debug and fix the issue, but if more people have the same issue in the future, then perhaps we can look into common symptoms.

For us it's worth it, and step 4b is just running DebugView to capture logs from the debug version of MediaMonkey.

I understand and would love to help, but I don't want to install the debug version of MediaMonkey and run DebugView. If you can think of another way to diagnose and solve this, please let me know. Thanks.

unfortunately there is no other way as debug version+DBGview can fetch Windows events needed to tell us what MM receive on wake up.

OK, thanks, hopefully someone else encounters the issue, and sends you the necessary info and you fix it in subsequent releases. In the mean time, I will have to live with the slight inconvenience. Thanks again!
