Let me just say upfront that I love Media Monkey, and if I can get this damn problem sorted out, I'm going GOLD.
For some reason tag-embedded album art from songs in multi-artist albums (but with consistent album artists, usually "Various") will not show up on-screen on my Creative ZVM.
I know from other ZVM owners on other forums (although not necessarily MediaMonkey synchers) that it CAN display art from multi-artist albums, even different art per song. Although that would be nice, I'd be satisfied if I could just get one art-work per multy-artist album to display.
Needless to say, MediaMonkey itself displays the artwork perfectly.
FYI, In an effort to fix the issue, I've just reformated my ZVM and had Media Monkey Synch in the following format:
<Album Artist>\<Album>\<Artist> - <Title>
It certainly makes for a neater structure, all the multi-artist albums under Various, etc. Unfortunately I still have the same problem.
Any clues, suggestions, etc?
[ZV:M] Embedded multi-artist album art NOT synching
Moderator: Gurus
If album art is embedded the artist, album artist shouldn't matter. The Zen would just need to read the album art.
Make sure that album art is actually in each file in MediaMonkey. If multi-artist albums aren't 100% correct when adding album art problems could arrise for certain methods of adding album art.
What you can try if possible is to copy a song with no album art from the Zen. Then check with WMP or MediaMonkey if it contains the album art. If it doesn't make again sure that the original does have the album art. If it does there probably is a problem with MediaMonkey.
Also take any sync settings into account like conversion. Album art could have been lost on conversion. Did you convert files?
Lastly make sure you have the latest firmware on your portable device, furthermore verify that the latest firmware has no issues with other applications.

Agreed. It is embedded. I've never chosen any of the other options.Lowlander wrote:If album art is embedded the artist, album artist shouldn't matter. The Zen would just need to read the album art.
Clicking on each individual title in the album displays the art correctly. Furthermore, in the small number of albums I have with different pictures in some titles, each picture displays correctly in Media Monkey when that title is selected.Lowlander wrote:Make sure that album art is actually in each file in MediaMonkey. That's a good idea. I hadn't thought of that one. I'll give it a go.Lowlander wrote:What you can try if possible is to copy a song with no album art from the Zen. I only convert files in one album (from FLAC) and there is no problem with Album Art in that case (Just one artist, the divine Cecilia Bartoli).Lowlander wrote:Also take any sync settings into account like conversion. Album art could have been lost on conversion. Did you convert files?
Yes, I have the latest firmware (updated about a month ago).Lowlander wrote:Lastly make sure you have the latest firmware on your portable device, furthermore verify that the latest firmware has no issues with other applications.
Album Art doesn't always synch to Zen
Cotton,
Just tested this out with a bunch of MP3 files (art embedded, art linked in same dir, art linked to central dir) and in all cases the art synched correctly to a Zen Vision (firmware 1.30.02).
If the problem persists, can you synch a small number of files and generate a debug log and WMLog (described at the top of the forum) and send me a file sample for one of files for which album art doesn't display?
Thx.
-Rusty
p.s. earlier versions of the Zen firmware _did_ have a problem displaying Album Art but that was fixed months ago with a firmware update.

My solution
I also had those problems with the embedded media art. I cleaned zvm and used the sync option:
Sync to: \Music\<folder:-1>\<filename>
This worked for me, though I am still wondering how i can make MM ignore the files deviceinfo.xml,devicon.fil, devlogo.fil with the automatic removal function.

Oh I forgot
So I made MM sync my folders so that there are not many subfolders.
Like this: \Music\air - moon safari\track01.mp3
Hope this helps ...

Automatic deletion
MMfan,
What build are you using? (2.5.4 RC-2 I hope?).

MM doesn't normally delete filetypes that it doesn't support (i.e. deletion is only supposed to delete MP3, .wav, audio files). Are you certain they're being removed?I am still wondering how i can make MM ignore the files deviceinfo.xml,devicon.fil, devlogo.fil with the automatic removal function.
