I searched the forum and all I found was posts saying that it's not possible to convert damn Walmart downloaded WMA DRM files to MP3! Has anyone successfully done this, maybe in a proccess involving a virtual drive or something?? I have about 40 of these buggers and I want to be able to play them on my iPod.

You could burn them to CD with probably WMP and than rip them. Or you could try and find FairPlayWM/FairUseWM and see if it works to crack the DRM. Either solution is against the license you agreed to when purchasing the songs.

I heard that burning the files to CD and then converting them degrades the sound quality, another reason why I was curious about mounting the files to a virtual drive instead (if it even makes a difference that is).

I'll look into FairPlayWM though, thanks...

FairPlayWM only works with some licenses [it didn't work for mine] and i think Microsoft has patched it, so it wont work anymore.

I think the new version 1.3 should work. But you must have a valid license (they must be playable on your pc) to remove the DRM-protection.

Big_B, what new version did you mean, was it FairPlayWM??
Strange, I'm not getting any hits in Google for FairPlayWM, if you did mean version 1.3 of FairPlayWM, do you have a link so I can give it a shot??
thanks
