I installed MM3 Alpha this morning and it worked pretty well without to many problems. When I first started it, it asked me if I wanted to clear my library since it could not be converted. That was fine by me.

Due to unrelated reasons I had a system crash and had to perform system recovery. After that happened, MM3 would not start up correctly anymore and gave me an error about the database disk image being malformed:



The program does continue to start up, but keeps popping up this error message (no matter what is clicked) :



I've tried deleting the databasefile from "Sources", hoping a fresh install would automaticly create a new one but this error continues to come back. I even installed MM2.5 again, hoping it would ask me the question about clearing the database again when I then installed MM3 but that did not work either.

Any suggestion on what to do would be greatly appreciated since I got seriously hooked on MM3 in the short while I was able to enjoy it.

search for mm.db on your hard drive (should be somewhere under documents & settings) and rename or delete that. that is the mm3 database that seems corrupt or unusable.

It's nowhere to be found. I think that's the one I already deleted. Thanks for trying though.

It may also be noteworthy that MM3 always remembers the tracks I had in MM3 the last time it worked correctly. So I'm thinking the problem may have to do with me failing to remove every trace of it from my hard disk or something... anyone know how to do this? (Make it "forget" the Now Playing tracks, that is)

in the same folder where mm3 stores the database is the now playing playlist (C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\mediamonkey.m3u).

You can also just clear the now playing list before you close mm and it should be empty when you re-open it.

No, that's where it stores the info for MM 2.5. (Which I'm currently using)

mm 2.5 uses my documents\my music\mediamonkey for the database and now playing.

(unless of course you've changed it some how)

Sorry, I misread. I'm using Windows Vista (in Dutch) but a "Documents & Settings" (or a Dutch equivalent) does not seem to exist. I think Ill just wait until the next build, but thanks for trying to help. I really appreciate it.

Oh, I have found it now. Apologies, I'm still learning to use Vista. Deleting MM.db did the trick and it's working again now. Many thanks!

your right, I think vista uses a different folder for user settings (don't think you mentioned you were on vista either).

no teknojnky they did not say they had vista.

people just like to make us guess what they have so they get a half a... guess of an answer its not your fault its theirs for not telling us what we need to know.

i also got the same error... i searched for the mm.db file but i cant find it. i searched everywher frm the windows folder to documents to the installation folder.

if it helps, "C:\Documents and Settings\\(your user account]\Local Settings\Application Data\MediaMonkey\MM.DB"
delete the mm.db file and problem solved.. but the "local setting" and "application data" folder can be hidden. so u need to "view hidden files" too
