Locating missing files

Any ideas anyone ?

I have 17,341 mp3 files. 1 m4p file. Onthe disk. Nothing else (other than folders) Properties also tells me there are 17,342 files... so that all checks out. No hidden , no unsupported.
But MM only finds 173334. 8 files missing. Which 8 ?????? How to find WHICH 8 ? This is the challenge.
iTunes also cant find these 8 files... so maybe corrupt or whatever.. but how do I find them ?

They could be system files maybe (like thumbs.db)? Maybe they are external album art files? In any case you can't locate files that aren't found in MediaMonkey.

An option could to create a list of all filenames (export script) and with some other program create a list of all files. Then you can compare them (Excel?) and manually find which tracks are missing.

Another option is to use Auto-Organize Files to move the files to a different folder. After that search the originating folder for files. Those found should be the missing files.

Just to CLOSE this thread. Found the missing 8 mp3 files.
They existed but were v small.. (and useless) at about 3K bytes. So I assume MM and iTunes skipped them.
Anyway.. USER ERROR ... doh !!
Sorted.

You can still have them in MM, there is an option not to skip small files in Tools->Options.
