I've tried 1.0.4 and 1.0.5, but neither will play my AAC files that I encoded in WinAmp.

Are there particular AAC files that it does and doesn't support?

VLC Player plays the files perfectly.

Yes, I think it was AAC+. Is that not supported?

Winamp created AAC+ is not supported in MM and except VLC Player (i think that there was one more app) I have not yet found app that plays AAC+ correctly.

I convert some files with Easy CD-DA Extractor to aac, surly not aacplus! But in MM I see only grey lines while playing...

Even if you try to play converted tracks using Drag and Drop to MM player and/or start playing of converted files using MM my computer tree node?

Do you have QuickTime (or QT Alternative/Lite) Installed?

No matter whether I using the Drag & Drop or computer tree node it doesn't play the aac files...

I have installed the quicktime alternative.

I have installed the quicktime alternative.
I've had the same problem - I think quicktime alternative only allows for playback of web-related media.

Did you test it with Quicktime once time?

to play in mediamonkey use codec with m4a format: m4a/lc-aac or m4a/aacplus (he-aac)
the file will have a *.m4a extension and plays in mediamonkey, itunes and ipods.
Encode again your songs. If you only change the extension, it doesn't work.

To play any MP4 files I use now the in_mp4.dll for Winamp 2/5. It works fine.

Found here

Except for AACplus

If you encode your songs with winamp with m4a/acc or m4a/accplus (be sure m4a format) then play in MM.
Perhaps Mediamonkey Monkey will recognize the he-acc like lc-acc ,i don't know, but plays correctly and you can transfer to an ipod.
Itunes and ipods recognize boths codecs like lc-acc and in the accplus take time of a song like double time (example: a song of 3 minutes is sawn like a 6 minutes ) . This is cause sometimes i use panoramic stereo to encode i think, but it plays.
And all this, without install acc plugin for mediamonkey.
