Re: Playlist in Main Window 1.1 (2009-06-18)
Bex, is it theoretically possible to have this script work on Auto playlists? I understand that it would have the potential to eat too many resources and cause MM to freeze but i'm still interested.
Re: Playlist in Main Window 1.1 (2009-06-18)
In MM4 it actually would be since some new scripting functionality has been introduces. I don't now how feasible it would be but I'll check that out when I get to this script to update it for MM4.

Oh, see this might be interesting then because it would offer some functionality that i've been wanting for a long time. You see, the fact that the playlists are placed in one of the custom tag columns means it can be used as a criterium to sort auto-playlists.
So, say this script had an alternative version that read auto-playlists instead of static playlists and limited itself to auto-playlists with a name that starts with a certain prefix.
You can then theoretically make an autoplaylist that is based on whatever criteria you desire and have it sorted by genre, but not alphabetically, which is currently the only option.
This would allow you to make a playlist that contains exactly the songs you want, but plays flowingly instead of randomly or alphabetically.
Make the prefixed auto playlists that the script acknowledges contain genres only, say ambient, soft rock, alternative rock, metal.
Then use the autoplaylist to create a, Saturday morning wake-up playlist that starts with ambient, then soft rock, then alternative rock and ends with metal.
And that's just an example, there are countless of other possibilities.

Yes, I see what you mean and really like what you are outlining here. I will definitely give this a go!

This script is wonderful. Thank you very much.
Re: Playlist in Main Window 1.1 (2009-06-18)
Bex, new user here. I am trying to install your script on a Win 7 64 bit system. I am the administrator and it gives me no option to run as administrator, but when I try to run it, it gives me a "Product Installation error" message. I am using MM 3.2.4.1304. Any advice?

Re: Playlist in Main Window 1.1 (2009-06-18)
Hi Bex, I'm currently using MM4.0.0.1439 and the playlists are no longer displayed in the chosen column (or in the Properties field). I have tried:
1. Options / Activate/Update
2. Playlist node / Rebuild PlaylistsNames in Main Window
3. Change chosen column and Activate/Update
4. Uninstall then re-install and Activate/Update
But none of those has helped. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers.

What field are you using, it seems to work fine for me?
EDIT: Actually I spoke to soon, it not updating for new playlist changes.

Thank Nyn, I'm using a custom column renamed to PlaylistCount. I don't know which version started this behaviour so can't say how far back it goes.
Re: Playlist in Main Window 1.1 (2009-06-18)
Bex, thanks so much for this script - I use it DAILY! It has made my life so much easier.
One feature suggestion: how about an option that writes the Count of Playlists into a DIFFERENT field rather than appending it to the names of the playlists?

I´m using MM4 1459. I am Gold Lifetime.
I change the name of one of the Custom Column and asigned this column to the playlist. Did everything with no results, install, uninstall, change custom column etc.
This ona and Playlist Panel pays by itself and worth every dollar.
any clue????
TIA
