Training Skin v 0.0.0.1

First release : 22-11-09

Current version: 0.0.0.1

Welcome to Monkey’s playground

The intention for this skin was, to make it easier to create your own skin.
There are different ways to create a skin, and it can / is very confused and frustrated at the beginning.
( I know this ) :D

So I try to create a skin that makes the first steps easier ( I hope).

This skin is very basic , and is designed not to be nice but simple.

I clean up all Objects from theme.mskn and reduced to the necessary ,
No active objects if don’t need .

I create for all Objects from theme.mskn an extra Image ( 21 ) very simple with just 2 or 3 mono colours without Gradient , this make it easy to recolor or change them in any Graphic Editor like Paint.net , Gimp , etc….

ArtWork images to change:

This file contains just the theme.mskn, but you can run it as an normal skin in Media Monkey.

Download:
Training.mmip 0.0.0.1

Artwork.zip (contains all skin images)

@Skinners
If some Skinners like to create a simple player skin ,feel free to post here or contact me, so we can include them in the mmip file.

Maybe this Skin is not perfect but I hope it will help others /you to understand how the Skinning Engine works

More helpful Skinning sites:

There are more thinks to do, like an little Instructions file , maybe on this I need some help (my english is not the best)

If you have any ideas or suggestions let me know and I look what I can do.

I wish you good luck and let us see what you create

good can you make another page at the wiki for it.

something like my walk though for newbies.

only you would be able to make it in german language far better then some one that can't read or speak german.

there has been a need for things in different languages some have already asked for them for spanish and italian.

:)

Very nice idea, I may actually take you up on your training offer. I am not graphically challenged enough to create my own but I would like to re-color every now and again. Great idea. :D :D

hmm, maybe I can have another stab at making an Ambience themed Media Monkey (I tried one using the code from Glided and the layout nearly made my head explode)

Ambience is the Windows theme I use, you can find it here http://tornado5.deviantart.com/art/Ambient-111330562

I've just been working a bit on my skin with this and it's coming on better than I'd expected, are there any plans to load a template for the player and micro player?

just unzip the msz file, of one of the non default loaded skins.

like eyals or even one of dreadm's other skins or my the blues monkey and you will see in them the mskn files for the micro players there are two a vertical one and a horizontal one. and one for the floatplayer the floatplayer is the name used by the theme engine for the mini player.

but you open the mskn files in the theme engine. then you export all the images from that mskn file into a new folder for that one mskn file only. then you can change all the images there and put them back as yours by opening the mskn file in to the theme engine and then importing them back in to it.

you then adjust the location of the images on the skin by testing the finished skin msz file in monkey and changing the location numbers in the micro players ini file.

now you see how to do it a little with dreadm's trainning skin try reading the newbies fast walk through again i did on the wiki it should start to click for you faster if it did not before. the walk through tells you how to make the theme but the player skins are done the same way.
:D

thanks for the info, I think I'm nearly ready to show off what I have so far, one question though:

how do I make my skin use the default Windows style for (radio)buttons and scrollbars?

You have to rename ScrollBar to _ScrollBar ,and Button to _Button , than the monkey shows the default windows Buttons and ScrollBar .
For the RadioButtons i am not sure but i think you have to replace the images for them. You can look in MediaMonkey / Skin folder there is an Default.mskn file ,this you can open in the Theme editor, and export the bitmaps somewhere and look for RadioButton 13.bmp.
