Playback stops when screen times out

Is this a known issue? Maybe it's something on my Windows 8 RT tablet? Is there a setting for this?

If I use the Windows 8 Music app, music will continue to play when the screen times out and goes blank. However, with MM for RT, the playback stops when the screen times out. I have to keep touching the screen every couple of minutes if I want continuous playback.

Happens to me as well...I have a Dell Latitude 10 tablet running Win8 Pro. Does not stop when the screen times out, but rather when the device times out...when I hit the Windows button, login to Win8, music starts automatically.

Surface RT seems OK in this respect, except with 24-bit FLAC as noted separately.

Update: not so fast. It works for a bit with the screen blanked but seems to time out eventually. Hmm.

In my experience this happens at the end of songs. Surface can time out and the screen shuts down, but audio plays until the track ends.

If I'm AC power and the tablet doesn't sleep I don't have the problem.

How odd .. i have had a very similar problem with the Android app .. hmm. After display times out, at end of song it usually pauses. Hit HOME button (starting display) and song starts instantly.

I was able to reproduce the issue on Surface RT, however then the same issue happened in the MS Music application. So my guess is that some HW/FW problem is there...

Xbox music plays endlessly for me on Win8 Pro and the Dell Latitude 10 tablet - listening to it right now into the 2nd hour without a pause. Only MM8 times out - and yes, it does seem to end at the end of the track that was playing when the screen times out.

Because of the timeout issue, I had to revert back to Win8's Music App.

I think this has been fixed in one of the MM RT updates. It no longer happens to me.

Where are stored your media files ? Inside the device or network ?

For me, the music is on a removable sd card. Both instances...Xbox and MM8...all variables equal with the exception of the application playing the tracks.

I have had the same problem on my surface RT and was told it would be fixed, but no fix yet,

There's a new release planned to be out in 1-2 days and it should fix all these issues.
