Backup 6.0 - Updated 01/07/2014

Post by trixmoto »

This script will allow you to select a location to save a copy of your database file to. Saves you having to go and find it! :)

The installer can be download from my website.

There's now an overwrite option which can be used as a safe guard! :)

This should allow you to automatically backup all of your important MM files! :D

Trix, i think for this script to be a complete sollution should be able to also backup the MediaMonkey.ini file.

An option to also backup scripts folder and scripts.ini would also be handy...

Nice job though

I'm now extending this script. It will have a screen allowing you to select what you wish to be backed up (settings stored in ini file). A zip archive will be created in your chosen directory. You will also be able to restore this archive. It's gonna take some work though - research is done, it's just a matter of coding! :)

Only one suggestion from me.
I have my script 2 times. One in My Music\MediaMonkey and another Copy in MM-Programm-Directory. Every start of MM it is checked, if the Script-File from My Music already exist or is up to date in the MM-Program-Directory and if not, it will be copied. The same for PlugIns, Skins, ...
So if I install a new Version of MM, all my scripts, ... are copied and I have my MM as I used to have it.

I'm not sure what you are asking for. You already have a script which does this on startup?

My program currently won't do this automatically, but the restore option will copy everything back to where it was so if you did install a new version of MM then the restore option would, well, restore.

I'm not asking for that, I'm using it :P
I only thought that it would fit "perfectly" into your script and I'm sure you'll implement something in that way if people need it.

New version (2.0). This backup is now wonderful and allows you to include the MDB and INI, plus the entire Scripts folder. It also has the option to create the backup as a folder, zip archive, or both!

N.B. A restore script is also on the way, but as you will need to have MM closed when you do the restore, it will need to be a separate script.

:o IMPORTANT: You need to download this file (XZip.dll) and put it in the Scripts folder if you want zip functionality. The script will register it and everything for you. :o

I am getting the following error(s):

Code: Select all

Error #5 - Microsoft VBScript Runtime error
Invalid procedure call or arguement: "Left'
File: "J:\program files\mediamonkey\scripts\backup.vbs", Line: 343, Column: 2

and

Error happened during script execution: Invalid procedure call or arguement: 'Left'

I am using the new beta 1, so I am guessing it has something to do with the new scripting changes.

Not sure if I should cross post this to the beta forum.
