MM Freezes during playback and tagging [#14432]

Hi,

I am busy tagging songs which i have downloaded and are not properly tagged. While i am tagging them i am also listening to some of them, if there is a song playing in the batch that i am tagging it will cause mm to freeze and the song to reloop, which means i have to force close mm. I have attached my debug log. I did 2 tests, one with mm playing the song and tagging it at the same time, then force closing and restarting doing the same thing but without playing anything.

I've seen this behaviour if the metadata is upadated within the first couple of seconds of a track starting.

Yes, it only does it with the songs i haven't tagged, once they are tagged via mm then it does not do that anymore. I see the song i pm you does not do that anymore as it has now been tagged and i do not have the original untagged file that i downloaded.

I got the impression it was related to having auto lyrics lookup enabled and letting that tag the lyrics at the same time as updating metadata manually. Could be way off but it doesn't seem to do it if I run through new songs to let it pick the lyrics up first or edit the metatdata then lookup the lyrics.

It was never a big enough problem for me to worry about as I just changed my workflow slightly for new music.

How big the files are? Do you also Tag Album Art? and Where the files are located (SSD/HDD/Lan Mapped Drive/...)?

-320Kb mp3 anything between 5mb-20mb depending on the length on the song. Mp3s from source are watermarked, but according to source it should not have an effect on quality or anything else.
-Some files have album art some don't, even if it is a an album/single/ep some of the files will have album art and some won't. For example album a has 10 songs, 2 of those songs will have album art and the rest won't.
-Files are located on drive c: which is a 1TB SHDD (Hybrid Drive)

Would it be possible to share a file that consistently triggers the problem (I know that's tough because tagging 'fixes' the issue) ?

I thought this was just an mp3 issue, but i see now mm does it flac files that i ripped myself with a different app, the flac files already have tags, i am just "fixing" them and making it "neater" in mm

Say i ripped a cd, imported it in mm, start playing the album in mm before tagging, select all because i want to edit the album name, open properties, edit album name click save, boom mm freezes and song goes it loop... reproducible all the time

This is making my mm experience really unpleasant, that i am thinking of giving up and moving on to another app

I also can't replicate the problem. There are number of factors that can slow tagging especially for FLAC where Metadata is in front of Audio data and for example adding Album Art to a file on network using WiFi can be proven to bee a bottleneck and trigger temp freeze of UI till process is done.

All the files that i am using are on a local drive. The UI freeze happens indefinitely with the audio looping until i force close mm.

I can also confirm it, MMW crash sometimes while tagging just playing title (only playing title!)
