I'm starting to see more and more audiobooks in .ZAB format. This is essentially a renamed ZIP file containing the MP3 files (much like .CBR and .CBZ for comics are renamed .RAR and .ZIP files).
It'd be nice (and easy?) for MediaMonkey to support this format in a future release.

If there's a way to cheat (other than renaming the files), that'd be fine too

No, unfortunately as MMW do not support archived formats.

App like https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk/Main_Intro.php can help you a lot in tracing/Renaming .ZAB files.
