Ok, I have been using mediamonkey for about 2 weeks. It was working great and I have been really happy with it. Starting today when I click play nothing happens, the track status does not move and no sound is heard. The track tagging features still work, but as for playing mp3's I'm getting nothing.

I removed and reinstalled the software and still am getting nothing. Is there some codec that may be corrupted I reload? any other ideas?

itunes still works, I just tried it... as does media player

System Specs: WinXP Home
Processor: P4 3.06ghz
Ram 512MB

First is the volume set to 0 or muted?

You can also try switching the output plugin in the options.

i'm getting the same thing

the same thing is happening to me, it was working fine for about a few months, and then it just stopped playing. any help would be great.

but as for playing mp3's
Does this only happen for mp3 files? If so, try changing the input plugin (e.g. try "in_mad.dll")

i made a mistake this morning. i have installed media player 10 just for testing purposes.
after that i could not hear a single sound in MM. volume control was up to 100 but in the player the progress bar didn't move either.
so i looked around and came to the system control
and the in the sound and multimedia settings. there is a tab "Hardware" where could find the "audiocodecs". a double-click opened the properties of audiocodecs. there are two tabs "general" and "properties". under the properties there is a list of codecs where i found an "Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec". opening the properties of that codec i found settings "enable" or "disable" and "priority". that codec was disabled, i dont know why but i setted it to "enabled" and priority "1". after that MM played all songs fine.

maybe this helps

I'm having similar problems

Hi,

I've just had a new version of Nero installed, along with a new DVD RW and am having exactly the same problems. I've tried the codecs solution and still no sound from MM. Wierd. MP3's are fine from Windows Media and my iRiver software.

Cheers

you can try another thing. in the "Beta Testing Forum" "djragman" had a similar problem and he could get MM to play by renaminng the "in_dsmp3.dll" which resides in the MM plugins folder.

just look here
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9441

maybe this helps

nope, but thanks anyway

No, that didn't seem to help. I tried renaming the in_dsmp3.dll instead of in_imp3 also. still no sound.. there must be a conflict somewhere? Should I try reinstalling MM or the MM plugins?

Thanks

you can try to reconfigure the direct-sound output plugin. maybe the nero installer changed something in your sound card drivers. go to tools->options->output-plugins. there should be two entries "direct sound" and "wave out". the direct sound plugin is normally checked, mark it an click "configure". in the opening window there is a combo box on the top left with two entries "primary sound driver" and the name of your sound card. no matter what is selected there, just switch it to the other one, do an "apply" or just "ok". restart MM.
if that doesn't help try to install the "in_mad.dll" plugin. you can get it here:

http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin/

before using it renam both of the "standard" mp3 plugins "in_dspmp3.dll" and "in_wmp3.dll"

maybe this helps

or from here:
http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA023256 ... 3_118t.zip

i don't know if it ist the same version as big_berny suggested (but i think it's easier to find)

@Big_Berny
are you from Japan?

I'd use the first link since it's optimized version of the one heinimuecki recommends.

@heinimuecki:
Ne, bin Schweizer! :D Kann mit den japanischen Zeichen wahrscheinlich genau so wenig anfangen wie du!
Benutze doch Google Translate.
