various repeatable crashes during GPM sync: debugs A996AC39 and various others. Tried a fresh install, and picking a subset of playlists but doesn't appear to change the symptoms in any way.

Based on your exception id A996AC39 filling playlist with 9638 tracks took 17 seconds and even larger playlists generated the "freeze log".
To be optimized.
Current workaround is to not include playlists larger than 10K tracks.
