I have a large music collection. I used MMW & MMA for years and it worked perfectly... till few weeks ago (probably when I migrated my Samsung S10+ with 512Gb of internal memory to Android 11). The issue is that the post-synchronization process never ends or really takes a lot of time.
I removed all my music from my phone, uninstalled Mediamonkey & Mediamonkey Pro and clean the Mediamonkey directory on my smartphone.
Then, I reinstalled the latest version of MMA Pro and MMA Beta.
I have synched with my PC: 26.000 mp3 downloaded + few playlists downloaded and everything was OK.
I tried to add some mp3 on my PC and restart the synchro.
The synchronization is running fluently and the result is OK on my smartphone: new music downloaded and playlists updated.
BUT the CIRCLE NEVER ENDS TURNING and I have a background task continuously scanning folders to library (even after more than 12hours)
The phone is hot after few seconds and the battery loose +/- 1% each 2 minute.
Impossible for me to keep my phone on my pocket and listen the music.
I have to kill the mediamonkey process. I cannot restart a new synchro from the mediamonkey app (searching for internet connection) but it is still possible to synchronize if mediamonkey is stopped and if i click on the Synchro widget ==> Synchro runs OK but again turning circle never ends ...

I tried to save a log file on my phone. Either it crashes MMA or the zip file has 0 byte.

WHAT CAN I DO ?
Is it possible to stop that post-synchronization task (turning circle) without stopping MMA ?


Update 07 March 2021: The last synchronization (adding +/ 100 mp3 and removing 20 mp3) terminated after +/- 8 hours

Music in MMA: 3914 directories (artists), +/- 26000 files, 244Gb
Music in MMW: 95000 mp3

Sorry. I have installed MMA 1.4.3.0949 and started immediately a synchronization. I still have the turning circle at the end.
Just to be sure that you understand well my issue:

The wifi synchro takes approximatively 5 minutes, that is perfectly normal.
+/- 70 mp3 deleted, +/- 160 mp3 added and some playlists updated (including one big playlist of 26000 mp3).
I receive the message that the synchro is terminated and the report is displayed on screen. Report is correct.
At that moment, if I checked the music on my phone: the synchro is well done: mp3 are correctly synched with my PC and playlists are also ok.
It looks perfect.

The only issue is: when I come back to the home page of MMA, the circle is turning continuously after more than 30 Minutes and will probably turn like that for more than 8 to 12 hours. The background task "Scanning folders to the library" is running and is killing my phone battery (and the phone is really hot).

Just a stupid question: What is done by that background task, as everything is well synched on my smartphone when i see the report of the end of synchro ?

I try to help you identifying the issue.
Yesterday, after 2 hours of turning circle, i decided to stop the mediamonkey app on my smartphone (as the phone was too hot).
Today (more than 12 hours later), i restarted MMA.
The circle turns 1 sec. and stopped immediately.

May be, yesterday, there was an interaction with another Samsung process that was indexing the mp3 file ?

I have checked your new log SJP5QJUMNN.
MMA syncs playlists to the Android media library.
I think this feature is not necessary in many cases (the system does it automatically too but with delay).
I plan to disable it in the next build(by default) to solve your case.

If you solved the problem in this thread can you confirm that your solution will also work for other than android 11 (ex see my problem under the topic "lost sync" with android7)?

I have installed the new release 1.4.3.0950 but it does not solve the issue.
I've just synched my music. Sync is OK after 3 minutes, but the circle is still turning 1 hour later and the phone is really hot (-20% of battery).
The only solution i have is to force the mediamonkey app to stop.

Is the fix proposed by martin.bohac deployed in this new release ?

No, I meant next Beta build, coming soon.

I think that the solution proposed by Martin could solve the issue.
Personally, I absolutely do not need that MMA syncs my playlists to the Android media library.
If it was an option i would disable it immediately.

Can you please elaborate what you actually refer to? Personally I would not mind taht MMA created and MM synced playlist are only available in MMA.

Thank you for clarification, I was not sure if those two are only issues he refer to.

I confirm that this issue has been fixed in version 1.4.4.0951

No more turning circle in MMA after synchronization.
