Error message on startup: 'Cannot create file C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Portable\MediaMonkey.registry'
Updated by Russell Samuels on Nov 11, 2014

MediaMonkey 4 supports a 'Portable' mode, in which the application can be installed to a USB key or drive without affecting the System upon which it's running.

If MediaMonkey is set for 'Portable' mode, then it cannot be installed to a location such as the standard .../Program Files directory;  it must be installed to a location that is independent of the host system, otherwise, the following error will result:
Cannot create file "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Portable\MediaMonkey.registry"

To resolve, uninstall MediaMonkey, and either:

  1. install it to the same location in non-Portable mode
  2. install it to a different location such as a portable drive
