{"id":293,"date":"2020-10-01T05:08:39","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T09:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/demo-content\/demo-section-1\/demo-article-2\/"},"modified":"2025-12-15T22:32:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T02:32:08","slug":"mediamonkey-license-key-usage","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/purchasing-licensing-mediamonkey-for-windows\/mediamonkey-license-key-usage\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration failed: your license is incorrect \/ How to use a Gold License Key"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To register MediaMonkey for Windows Gold<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find the registration information you should have received after purchasing it, consisting of: <br \/>Username: the name\/company\/e-mail that you entered at purchase<br \/>License key: a series of characters along the lines of xxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx<\/li>\n<li>Use the registration information to activate the Gold features as follows:\n<ol>\n<li>Run MediaMonkey<\/li>\n<li>In the Menu Bar, click &#8216;MediaMonkey Gold&#8217; and then &#8216;Register MediaMonkey Gold&#8230;&#8217;. <br \/>Note: If &#8216;MediaMonkey Gold&#8217; doesn&#8217;t appear in the menu bar, then it&#8217;s either because:\n<ol>\n<li>MediaMonkey Gold is already registered.<\/li>\n<li>The menu bar has been disabled. Click the Menu button (in MediaMonkey 4, click the space to the right of the MediaMonkey icon) and then enable View &gt; Menu Bar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Copy and paste<\/strong> the Username and License key to avoid transcription errors and click &#8216;OK&#8217;<br \/>All the Gold features will be activated!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you receive an error that &#8216;Your license key is incorrect&#8217;, it can be because:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Username or Key were manually entered instead of copy\/pasted resulting in transcription errors (e.g. typing a &#8216;1&#8217; instead of an &#8216;I&#8217; or an &#8216;l&#8217;) or case-sensitivity errors (typing an &#8216;h&#8217; instead of an &#8216;H&#8217;).<\/li>\n<li>Extra spaces or other characters before or after the username or key.<\/li>\n<li>The wrong License Username or License Key is being used. Some of the most common errors are:\n<ul>\n<li>License Username:\n<ul>\n<li>incorrect capitalization<\/li>\n<li>a user ID for the MediaMonkey web site or store instead of the License username<\/li>\n<li>an e-mail address instead of the chosen License Username<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>License Key:\n<ul>\n<li>a password for the MediaMonkey website or store instead of the License Key<\/li>\n<li>Transaction Reference number or Product code instead of the License Key.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Your License Username has foreign characters that may have resulted in an incorrectly-generated key. If this is the case, please contact support, making sure to send in your original purchase # \/ reference #.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you receive a different error, see these <a href=\"\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-for-windows\/purchasing-licensing-mediamonkey-for-windows\/\">articles about activation, expiration, or usage limit errors<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verifying License \/ Registration Status<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To verify the registration status within MediaMonkey for Windows, click Help &gt; About<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If it shows that you&#8217;ve successfully a Gold license, but Gold functions are greyed out, it&#8217;s because you need to first select a file (track-specific commands are only enabled if a track is first selected).<\/li>\n<li>If it it indicates that you have a &#8216;Standard&#8217; license even though you&#8217;ve already registered, the following may have occurred:\n<ol>\n<li>You&#8217;ve logged is as a different user. MediaMonkey saves configuration settings on a per user basis, if one user registered, this doesn&#8217;t apply to other users on the machine. Re-enter your license information to resolve this.<\/li>\n<li>The license key was entered but wasn&#8217;t saved or if the registry was somehow corrupted. This can occur if MediaMonkey failed to shut down properly after registration information had been entered.
