{"id":389,"date":"2020-10-15T13:39:48","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T17:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/?post_type=knowledgebase&#038;p=389"},"modified":"2020-11-11T12:55:13","modified_gmt":"2020-11-11T16:55:13","slug":"error-message-on-startup-error-during-player-initialization-reset-mediamonkey-interface","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-install-config\/error-message-on-startup-error-during-player-initialization-reset-mediamonkey-interface\/","title":{"rendered":"Reset MediaMonkey Interface\/Error message on startup: &#8216;Error During Player Initialization&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If you&#8217;re missing MediaMonkey windows, menus or toolbars, can&#8217;t move or dock them anymore or are experiencing visual problems in MediaMonkey you may want to reset the MediaMonkey interface to its default settings when first installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In MediaMonkey 5 you can remove the <em>persistent.json<\/em> file from the same location the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-install-config\/modifying-the-mediamonkey-db-and-ini-files\/\" data-type=\"knowledgebase\" data-id=\"412\">database<\/a> is stored while MediaMonkey is closed.<\/li><li>In MediaMonkey 4 you can reset the interface as described below.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8216;<em>Error During Player Initialization<\/em>&#8216; error can occur at startup on some systems when MediaMonkey 4 is starting. The reason for the error is a corrupted Interface Registry that keeps window and component positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To fix this or if you want to reset the MediaMonkey 4 interface follow these steps (only MediaMonkey 4 and older use the registry for this):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By editing the registry:<ul><li>Close MediaMonkey (terminate from Task Manager if needed)<\/li><li>Open the Windows Registry Editor (type <em>REGEDIT<\/em> in Start)<\/li><li>Navigate the Registry and delete the &#8220;<em>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\MediaMonkey\\Interface<\/em>&#8221; Registry Tree Entry<\/li><li>Close the Registry Editor<\/li><li>Start MediaMonkey<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Using a 3rd-party script from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.happymonkeying.com\/forum\/ResetMMWUI.reg\">http:\/\/www.happymonkeying.com\/forum\/ResetMMWUI.reg<\/a> that will reset all settings.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTES<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>By deleting the Registry Key you will reset MediaMonkey interface related settings to defaults and MediaMonkey should start normally without error.<\/li><li>Editing the Windows Registry is not without risk.
