{"id":657,"date":"2020-10-19T16:29:51","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T20:29:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/?post_type=knowledgebase&#038;p=657"},"modified":"2024-12-04T18:00:17","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T22:00:17","slug":"setting-permissions-for-the-mediamonkey-dlna-upnp-service","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-upnp-dlna\/setting-permissions-for-the-mediamonkey-dlna-upnp-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Setting Permissions for the MediaMonkey DLNA \/ UPnP Service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As of MediaMonkey for Windows 4.1 it&#8217;s possible to enable DLNA\/MediaMonkey for Android Wi-fi Synchronization as a Windows Service under <strong>Tools > Options > <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/wiki\/WebHelp:Setting_UPnP_DLNA_Media_Servers\">Media Sharing<\/a><\/strong> from the Main Menu by using Install Service, so that other devices can access the library even when MediaMonkey for Windows itself isn&#8217;t running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure you enter the same <em>Windows User credentials<\/em> as you&#8217;re running MediaMonkey for Windows as, so that the MediaMonkey Service uses the same MediaMonkey for Windows settings, including Media Sharing and database as MediaMonkey for Windows itself.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MediaMonkey Service is not available for Portable Installs. You&#8217;ll need a regular install of MediaMonkey for Windows to be able to use the MediaMonkey Service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In cases where multiple users share a PC, it&#8217;s advisable to give all equal rights to access the MediaMonkey database.\u00a0To do so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Move <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-install-config\/modifying-the-mediamonkey-db-and-ini-files\/\" data-type=\"knowledgebase\" data-id=\"412\">MediaMonkey database file<\/a> to a neutral location (rather than a secured user folder). e.g. &#8220;<em>C:\\MediaMonkey\\<\/em>&#8220;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change the location MediaMonkey reads the database from: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-install-config\/modifying-the-mediamonkey-db-and-ini-files\/\" data-type=\"knowledgebase\" data-id=\"412\">Modifying the MediaMonkey database and settings files \/ changing the default database location<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>MediaMonkey 5+ can work with MediaMonkey Server which is currently in development: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/forum\/viewforum.php?f=31\">https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/forum\/viewforum.php?f=31<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As of MediaMonkey for Windows 4.1 it&#8217;s possible to enable DLNA\/MediaMonkey for Android Wi-fi Synchronization as a Windows Service under Tools > Options > Media Sharing from the Main Menu by using Install Service, so that other devices can access the library even when MediaMonkey for Windows itself isn&#8217;t running.
