{"id":685,"date":"2020-10-20T12:03:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-20T16:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/?post_type=knowledgebase&#038;p=685"},"modified":"2025-09-20T12:45:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T16:45:10","slug":"mediamonkey-apple-device-compatibility","status":"publish","type":"knowledgebase","link":"https:\/\/www.mediamonkey.com\/support\/knowledge-base\/mediamonkey-sync-iphone-ipod\/mediamonkey-apple-device-compatibility\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Device Not Recognized (compatibility list)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Upgrades to the iOS firmware on iPhone, iPod touch, and\/or iPad can break MediaMonkey for Windows&#8217;s ability to communicate with these devices correctly, triggering an error that the &#8216;&#8230;firmware is not compatible with this version of MediaMonkey&#8217; OR &#8216;Please install the desktop version of iTunes.&#8217;<br><br>If you see this error message it generally means that either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You&#8217;re running an outdated version of iTunes or the version of iTunes from the Windows Store (which is&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;compatible with MediaMonkey). You need to install the&nbsp;<em>latest&nbsp;desktop&nbsp;version<\/em>&nbsp;of iTunes (&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/itunes\/download\/win64\">64-bit version<\/a>&nbsp;|&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/itunes\/download\/win32\">32-bit version<\/a>&nbsp;) to resolve this.<br>Note:<br>&#8211; if you attempt to download iTunes directly from the Apple site, you&#8217;ll initially be presented with the Microsoft Windows Store version. To get to the desktop version manually, scroll down to &#8220;Looking for other versions?&#8221;&nbsp; and click on &#8220;Windows &gt;&#8221; and you&#8217;ll be presented with the desktop version instead.<br>&#8211;
