Kensayers: /* Streaming over UPnP / DLNA */

This is an English translation of http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/WebHelp:Setting_UPnP/DLNA_Media_Servers/4.0, I did not create any of the following content.

----

MediaMonkey lets you share the contents of your catalog to other UPnP / DLNA and Screens, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and several Blu-Ray.

== Streaming over UPnP / DLNA ==

----

1. Go to Tools> Options> Catalog> Media Sharing (or right-click on Multimedia Servers and click Options> Manage Collection and Nodes) and select 'Media Sharing (UPnP / DLNA)'.

2. Add' a shared comment and choose what content to other devices to enable UPnP / DLNA.

3. Auto Conversion[http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Auto-Conversion_Configuration] for content formats are not compatible with UPnP / DLNA. (Note that for WMV video conversion is only supported in real time.)

If you plan to create more than one server (for example if you want to share music with all DLNA devices, but only with a sublist Movies devices) choose a server name and IP Port.
Define your security settings. By default, servers are shared with any DLNA device on your local network. You can:
Allow external devices that connect to the network (via the Server tab)
Require any new device intended to connect you give explicit permission to access the server (via the Access Control tab)

----

'''Be aware of the following situations that may arise when you allow external access:'''

Security options are quite limited. MediaMonkey can only restrict access by IP address, and you can restrict access from your router.

You will need to enable the port on your router to forward Port # displayed on the Server tab UPnP / DLNA to the computer that is running MediaMonkey.

You need to set the DLNA client to connect to http:// IP <Network address>: <Port#> / DeviceDescription.xml

----

Once you have finished click 'OK' in the Media Sharing dialog box and then 'OK' in the dialog 'Options' to accept the changes. You can now browse your shared content catalog MediaMonkey to other DLNA devices.

If you have trouble sharing their catalog, try setting the 'IP port' on the 'Server UPnP / DLNA' to '4000 '. This will cause the server to be navigable from within MediaMonkey to help detect any problems.

== Control MediaMonkey Remotely ==

----

DLNA allows MediaMonkey also be controlled remotely via 'DLNA Control Point' (For example, a DLNA control point running on an iPhone to remotely control MediaMonkey). To enable this functionality enable 'Allow MediaMonkey control via UPnP / DLNA'
