last.fm and mm

Hi, im new in all the last.fm thing and I really dont know what to do.

I downloaded some plugins or so, but it still doesnt work.
When I play some song its shown in my profile, but then its thrown away, without note about the listening. So all my listened song are those I have listened with Last.fm RADIO. I have the last.fm soft in my computer, but i want to listen tracks with my MM 3.0.1.1127.

Help me, please. What shoud I do? Reinstall MM? Install new MM? Or what?

I also use my ipod to lsiten to music in about 80% of all cases. That's why I'm so happy that the plays will sync correctly between ipods and MM. But also MM is really important to me, for example for parties (where people can choose the music), tagging, managing, cd burning and autorating - and as I said I also need it for about 20% of my plays.

Thanks for confirming this. Is it a case that people who use MM tend to listen to music on their computers more than portable player? I am probably 80% ipod, but that's just because of convenience with my job.

Just submit the ipod-plays before playing new songs in MM! Because if not the ipod-plays won't be submitted due to the last.fm spamprotection. The problem is that you can't submit songs which were played before the song you submitted last time. That's why you have to submit the ipod-plays with lastpod first before you want to play music in MM.

Thanks alot. It's strange, but before I gave up on itunes I had exactly the opposite problem with scrobbing from my ipod; i.e. if something was not playing in itunes, the stuff on my ipod would not scrob to last.fm?? Will be happy when I can forget about the hassles I've had with itunes

. I will give the lastpod.org thing a try when I am more awake. Will also try the 'Play History & Stats Node' thing I saw a thread about somewhere as that sounds useful, but definitely not up to that tonight,

you're right. Unfortunately it's not possible yet to submit ipod-plays to last.fm with MediaMonkey. But there are third-party tools which are able to do so like: http://www.lastpod.org/

I think there is/was some scripts that were attempting to facilitate scrobbling your portable, but I don't know the status or effectiveness of them. Some one else more familiar with them will have to post, I never worry about portable scrobbles myself.

Hi, I know this question is probably obvious, but I am getting a bit lost in all of these threads

. I am very new to MM(3) & I followed the instruction in this thread and now when playing music with MM3 it scrobs to last.fm beautifully

. When I plug & sync my ipod though, non of the tracks I've played get scrobbed (this used to happen when I used itunes). Was I expecting too much for this to happen (i.e. scrobbing only works when you are actually playing music on MM itself), or should this be possible & it is just not working for me?? Hope someone can answer my question or direct me to a more relevant thread,

I'm not sure what you're asking but I wouldn't keep more than one plugin installed because the two can conflict, even if disabled. I am successfully running the Winamp standalone (non-client) plugin. You will need to physically remove the dll from the Plugins folder to uninstall either plugin (though it should be possible to scrobble with the Winamp plugin if the native MM plugin is only disabled). If you want to use the native plugin, removing the Winamp dll is the best solution as it tends to re-enable itself if left present. The MM native plugin works sporadically (I have scrobbled with it) but has some problems with and after submitting a cache, as well as with last tracks in Now Playing without Continuous play enabled.

Do I need to uninstall the native plug-in order to do this? Like I said, both are currently installed so you'd think it'd work. Also, the songs only appear on last.fm's site while listening to them; they're not recorded if I move on to another song.

The native MM plugin does not utilize the last.fm client. The first Winamp plugin listed there does (although I've never tried it with MM -- I didn't want the nag screen all the time), the second Winamp plugin does not.

I did both of these methods. I got last.fm's site to record my stats but the last.fm client (that sits in your tray) doesn't correspond with MM the way Winamp did. Thoughts?

Guess we are going a bit off topic, but since there is now native scrobbling support, guess topic is resolved.

I always said I would never own a Pod, but mine was a free "broken" one from a friend. Could not turn down free or the chance to fix "broken".

BTW, I actually am pretty happy with it. But, not to the point that I would replace it with another Pod.
Although same friend just got an IPhone.... now if that were to become broken...

My ipod is running rockbox now, so it's basically a generic mp3 player with kickass firmware, but I do miss my Zen.

I want one of the 160 GB iPods (which are incompatible with third party software...thanks Apple!)...why can't Creative or any other company bother to compete with Apple, especially as far as storage space goes? The Zune is hardly a better alternative and the large-capacity Zen players seem to have been largely abandoned by Creative. What gives?

There's definitely an untapped market for super-geeky/audiophile portable audio players with large-capacity hard drives, OGG/Flac/etc support, more customizable audio settings, etc, that no one is addressing, and it's quite sad.
