I have done the same as you, and in spite of the few bugs remaining in MM3 RC1 (arn't there always) have now deleted MM2.

Bundler, please persevere with MM3, as nojac says, I don't think you'll regret it.

i followed the instructions found here, to the letter, and do indeed have two directories. upon further exploration of my old 2.0. the entire library was blank so i am now rescanning to create a new one, grrrr.
i may not have anyone beating down my door to write code, but i consider my level of computing savvy to be enough that i can follow instructions that i THOUGHT were fairly clear. i did everything i was told to do to create two separate entities of MM, but somehow i got fubared. i understand the warning about trying 3.0, but from what i have seen so far, i will be deleting 3.0 and never going near it again. all i wanted to do was see how 3.0 was different, but this ranks with volunteering to go along with General Custer for bad ideas, :-(.

The tags are in the music files (embedded), so you won't loose that. You will however loose the play count etc and your playlists if you delete the MM2 library.

If you install MM3 to another folder (MediaMonkey3) you can use the two versions independently.

Good luck with the upgrade. You won't regret it.

It sounds like you were using an old alpha. Scroll to the bottom of the announcment thread and download the release candidate, that will import your library.

Oh, and if you go into your hard drive and to the MM2 directory you can launch MM2, I'm pretty sure it's just the shortcuts that need fixing.

My first thought is did you install MM3 into the same directory as MM2.

If MM3 is installed into a different directory, I don't think you would have got the first message about deleting your current library and you can experiment with MM3 while still having access to MM2.

At least that's my understanding, and dual running seemed to work for me.

Hopefully another member will be able to get MM2 running again for you.

ok, now i'm REALLY unhappy...........
i gave up on 3.0 for now, and when i went to use 2.0, my desktop icon is gone (even though i specified new for everything) and my dfx is fubared, it doesn't start up anymore on 2.0 launch.
