:(

Original year

Original year is changed to original date in RC-3.

Probably unlikely that we're going to do anything else here prior to release.

...um, I was referring to the contents of the column rather than the column heading :-?

With respect to the inconsistencies that you originally brought up:
Year: Used in Track browser columns & nodes
Date: Used in Track Properties and Column headers

I'm not really certain that we should make a change or not, since the track browser and column nodes would be kind of useless if they were grouped by Date. The only reasonable alternative might be to label the fields as 'date' but only use the year portion of the date.

With respect to Original Year/Original date, we should just make them consistent.

Let me know what you think.

i understand now how the differences have arisen , can we have a choice on the columns to either select a column date or a column year or both if we so desired.

thanks caddy..

Sorry, no - I never thought of trying it out (testing it) ha, ha.

And it works ok now. I was not entering a separator in the date. So 21/11/2007 works. Hooray. Thanks for your help nojac.

You didn't think of trying the format I suggested?? :D

Or this: 10/11/2007? This is changed to 10.11.2007 on my computer. I have no idea if the date format is a MM or a Windows setting, however.....

Hello nojac, thanks for the prompt, never thought of that

Using the track properties box I changed the Date field to 21 Nov 2007 (also tried 21 11 2007) but nothing was held/saved. The field was showing a blank. I changed it back to the correct date (year).

Why not just test it? On my computer the format is dd.mm.yyyy

I didn't know that

I hope I can display in my English date format: ddmmmyyyy :D

This feature will be very handy esp for concerts where I have the same gig performed on different dates.

As both the Date and the Original Year field actually supports dates, you will have to change the field popup info of Date from "Year this track was recorded" to "Date this track was recorded". The Original Year field should be renamed to Original Date, and the field popup info also from "Year...." to "Date...."

I must admit that I was not aware that these fields actually supports dates. So all my tracks are tagged with Year.

It might be a good idea to let the user choose between displaying a coloumn with the whole Date field or just the last 4 digits ("Year")

Ok, then put date as the field name :)

year/date

But the field actually supports dates! (per the ID3 spec).
