Yes, that is exactly what I have - only MP3's.

autosync problems

frankieboy,

THAT explains it--as I just now mentioned in another thread, there is a problem with the auto-conversion rules that'll be fixed in RC5.

It's better for me too. Only 2 issues left I can see;
album artwork is linked to the wrong song
lyrics are mising.

album art problem on iPod

by rusty » Thu Dec 13, 2007 10:52 pm

RC4 still had a problem in which album art could be corrupted. That'll be fixed in RC5.

So far, so good with RC4. I restored my iPod to new and even took a leap of faith and updated the firmware to 1.0.3.

I uninstalled RC3, installed RC4...I wasn't sure if I needed to do this step, but I rebuilt my database from 2.5 (there is one problem which *might* be related to me doing this, I will explain below). I did an autosync of all my playlists and voila - it worked. No stalling or crashing.

I also changed a few playlists and resync'd - success. I then went back to iTunes, which is set to "manually manage music" and brought over all my video and podcasts. They are there and seem to be playing fine. Videos are playing fine as well.

However, going back to someone else's problem with MM crashing as it sync'd on an artist beginnning with "Com..." That's an error that I also had, and I remember that I deleted the Commodores from the playlists, so I'm curious if I autosync with them on there it would work. I'll try it tonight.

The only thing I noticed is that as I have been cleaning up my album art, now, the last few album cover art / tags changes I had made aren't there. However, I'm wondering if this could be related to the fact that I rebuilt my database back from 2.5. I know that if album cover art or tags are changed it is with the song, but if I made changes in the 3 database, then, would I have to rescan those tracks in 2.5 to make sure they are there? I admit I was bouncing back and forth between both versions alot, and possibly, I didn't rescan those tracks in 2.5...so then, when I rebuilt the database from 2.5, maybe those changes weren't there.

Which brings to mind a question - when installing each new RC, is it necessary to build a new database? I hesitated to add new playlists into version 3 yet, if I have to keep reverting back to the 2.5 database, but if I can just keep my new MM3 database and work with it, that would make life easier!

iPod sync problems

Note that these issues should all be resolved in RC4. In most cases it was caused by the iPod compatibility settings getting disabled, and then, even if it was re-enabled, MM would detect the sync tracks on the device but wouldn't modify the naming convention to a format that the iPod needed.

Minus the Commodores songs, syncing manually, all went well this morning. My album art is fixed, all playlists are in good order. Cover Flow works great and is fairly fast - fast enough for me, anyway.

I do look forward to auto syncronizing - manually syncronizing is a little burdensome!

The only other error I got last night (which I hadn't gotten before) was when I tried to eject the iPod using MM3, the program gave me an exception error, which I sent.

I tried auto-sync on my iPod 80GB classic, and it crashed (manually syncing was fine). Interestingly, I noticed that it crashed as it was syncing a song by the "Commodores." I remember someone else saying they had problems with artists that started with "Com." Same here. I ended up with dupes after the crash and repaired the database. No dice. I removed the two Commodores songs from the playlist (fixed that issue).

I then did an auto-sync, and checked to remove all songs not on a playlist, which removed the dupes. At that point, all the playlists seemed to be in great shape; the songs were all correct and in the correct order. However, on the iPod, all album art was mixed up. There was an odd pattern, though. Each playlist had the same wrong album art, showing in the same incorrect order.

I restored the iPod again and am manually transferring my playlists again, so I hope this will work.

I'm having these exact problems with my 160gig Classic. I reverted back to RC1 (3.0.0.1098) and syncs work just fine.

I've a problem with RC3: playlists will sync fine, but single albums won't play at all. They are added, I can browse through the covers but when playing the time index stays put at 0:00 and it won't start playing.

I've a current iPod nano ... any ideas? thanks

I've seen that checking that box fixed it for some, but it made no difference for me. It all syncs to the root of the Ipod.

On the 'Device configuration' tab of the Device Profile, do make sure you have checked 'Force iTunes style folders'. Earlier versions of MM3 seemed to force iTunes style folders so syncing did not create a problem, but I think with 1109, at least in my case, this was no longer the default, and it began putting everything into the root folder of the iPod, which meant that even though everything was there but nothing played. Once I deleted those tracks, checked 'Force iTunes style folders' and resynced, everything began working fine.

I have an 80gb Classic. Itunes doesn't even work for me anymore And I synced my librayr and they were on the Ipod but I couldn't access them :(

My fix

by Espen » Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:49 pm

I've had mostly the same problem as you, but with a Creative Zen. My fix was to use the file C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey3\Plugins\d_WMDM.dll from the 1098 build instead of the 1109 build. If the iPod sync works in any other MM3 build, perhaps it might be an idea to test using another build of the d_iPod.dll (in the same directory) ???
