you could go to my skins download area in my public msn folder site and get the aqua44 skin its the same as this one but my style i made the shorter player bigger and added the the stars to it.

not sure if the close button is wrong in it or not since i have not tried it in a while.

:-?

Sorry -- have been busy with other things, I'll get to it ASAP.

love the skin, but feel weird clicking the red "close" button to no effect. Strange phenomenon abound

I'll take a look at it and update as soon as I can. In the meantime there's a number of other converted MM2 skins:

The red "Close" buttons (top right corner) have been broken in this skin by MM 3.1. Does anyone have a fix or a comparable skin?

Player looks much better now, had issues before with it not showing up right. Seems to display well now. My favorite skin is still Ultimate, but Aqua is now another one I'll keep as available. One feature that Ultimate has is ability to set "star ratings" from it's all it's players. I noticed that this is only available in Aqua Mini-Player. Any chance to adding ratings to your other two players? Thanks for your work on this great skin.
bob61, thanks for your interest in this skin. I don't know if you've fully read the thread, but this is not really my skin, but it is a conversion of an older skin available with MM2. While the ratings in the player may be useful, I don't really feel comfortable adding such a drastic change to the skin as I am not the original author. My goal for these "converted skins" is to retain the original look as much as possible - unless of course the author gives me permission to change his/her work. Unfortunately, I don't think the original author of this skin is still around to ask.

Of course, another reason I don't want to add in new elements is that some users are looking for the same interface they got with MM2, since they are so used to it - and they'd like to keep their MM2 feel while using the powerful new MM3 engine. I hope you understand.

That being said, I do want to make the float player match better to the skin and I certainly will be trying to fix any bugs that people find, so changes will still be forthcoming.

its amazing how simple it is now right?

so when can we see the first marine based theme skin?
Semper Fidelis, Latin for "always faithful". ya know.
I wouldn't exactly go that far. :) It's still a pain in the rear end just to modify the color of the titlebar for me. I'm not a graphical artist guy. Whatever I do graphically, it's usually just wiht "Paint", or if I'm really feeling savvy then "The Gimp".

And while I'm a true to the core supporter of the Corps, I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to computer programs. I'm a database programmer by trade, and I appreciate a good database. But to me, a database shouldn't waste any space, ever! I'm a fanatic on the pixel level when it comes to databases. If I made a USMC theme then it would cheapen both the USMC and MediaMonkey... at least from my two perspectives as both a USMC supporter and a database minimalist. 8)

Semper Fidelis!

It isn't really that complicated to change. In the ThemeEditor with Theme.mskn opened, just go to File -> Export Bitmaps. Edit the image called topbar.bmp with an image editor (but you must keep the same dimensions as the original image, and the buttons must remain the same size or left unchanged). After the image has been edited, go to topbar.bmp under Images in the ThemeEditor and use the replace button to replace it with your image.

nohitter151 wrote:I could do it, but I hate to mess with the core of the original and mass distribute the skin without consent of the author (and I am not 100% sure who it is and if they still even use MM!) If you PM me or email me a picture of what the title bar should look like (preferably .png or .bmp format) I could make a custom one for you.
I'm tinkering with ThemeEditor7 and it looks to me like it's a lot harder than I first thought it would be to change the titlebar color. The titlebar isn't a contiguous color, it's a series of horizontal stripes, so you can't just easily fill it with the color you want.

In lieu of posting a picture, I'll just describe what I meant.

The titlebar of Aqua4 MediaMonkey has the MM icon on the left, followed by the word MediaMonkey in a dark blue font. On the right side are five round colored buttons. And the titlebar background is a creamy white color with faint greyish horizontal lines.

My only graphical programming experience has been with Delphi and VB, where the color of the title bar is easily changed. And in fact, most programs can have their title bar color changed simply by using the Windows Theme functionality. It appears to be a much larger deal when making that change in MediaMonkey, where everything is created by stacking images on top of each other. As far as I can tell it would take the modification of several images to do what I'm wanting to do, and they aren't simple images that lend themselves to being modified.

I used to use the Non-Skinned version of MM, but since MM3 that feature has become unusable because of its player, IHMO.

But anyway, my preference is to have the titlebar background color a dark blue with white text. But since I'm a begger, I have no problems not being a chooser. :) Aqua4 skin is already a work of art, and I love what it has done for MM3.
