It fails to accord with docs and is most undesirable behaviour.

If I have emptied the file's Album Artist field it's because I want it empty. MM should not mess up my field values (when, as here, I have turned off MM inference of tags) - for one thing this stops me seeing in MM which AA's are empty.

It wouldn't be so bad, except that in overwriting my blank AA, MM often breaks up my albums. When all tracks on one album have AA empty, MM shows the album under Albums in one entry. Once MM has overwritten my blank AA with varying Artist values form the various tracks, the album shows as broken into a separate album for each different track artist. This is a PITA.

Devs, please reconsider this behaviour. It might have looked like a good idea in the times when there was confusion about what AA/BAND/TPE2 meant, but it doesn't now. Just as the user does not have to have MM's "Infer track properties" from Filename if he doesn't want it, he should not have to have this Infer one tag from another.

There are two cases:

1. Album field has some non-empty value: This is intended behavior.
2. Album field is empty: This was a bug, it doesn't make sense to automatically fill Album Artist by Artist field. This will be fixed in the next release.

I've noticed this too. I assume Mediamonkey doesn't actually write into the album artist field, but just displays the artist in the field?

The track list misreps a blank Album Artist field - it shows the Artist value in its place. I assume it should show the true value i.e. blank, as it does for other fields.

(If this is simply the effect of an overlooked option (though none I can find), apologies and please tell me where it is.)
