Anjelface: Are you by any chance on Windows Vista? Check out the response to this thread:

You should not worry But you can reinstall newest version over the top of old one just to ensure and nothing should be lost.

MM Start up evokes error message...

by anjelface » Sun Feb 17, 2008 10:32 pm

Each time I start mm I get an error window that says:

The Directory C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Temp\ cannot be created. With 3 choices: Cancel/Retry/Ignore I have been using 'ignore'. The other issue is that I had no security suite with an updated virus definition...I got myself a trojan...and even though windows live OneCare found it and "cleaned" it, I discovered it was still in my system..I am now using Avast! and its scan picked up the same trj! Do I need to remove mm and reinstall it? If so, can it be done without losing my library? and how...I'm a novice in this game and thank you in advance for any help given...Anjel

Please try to create a debug log.

Yes (both in 2.5 and 3.0). Also, I should note that when I first started using 2.5 it worked fine, but something happened. After experiencing the same problem with 3.0 I did a complete uninstall including deleting its registry keys, but the problem reoccurred.

Closing it like you mention should work. Does it always keep the process running after shutting MediaMonkey down (this forced shutdown will result in settings to not be saved)?

No, not that I'm aware of.
Lowlander wrote:Does you user account have permissions to write in the directory where the MediaMonkey.ini is stored?
The account is set at computer administrator, so yes.
You will need to shutdown MediaMonkey properly in order for settings to be saved.
How do I go about doing this? I close MM normally (either though the "x" or file -> exit. If the process still runs in the background, I end the process.

Does you user account have permissions to write in the directory where the MediaMonkey.ini is stored?
You will need to shutdown MediaMonkey properly in order for settings to be saved.

MediaMonkey Start-up Issues

MM fails to recognize my settings every time I start it up.

In 2.5, it would start up without displaying my library and displaying one album on my now playing (the same album; the same song each time) and it would not close properly (the process would still be running in the background).

In 3.0, it once again fails to recognize my settings (skin, the columns of my library, etc.) and it also shows the same track each time on my now playing even though I did not listen to that song in my previous use. In addition, my number of play statistic does not update.

Any suggestions?
