This still happens for me using the latest MediaMonkey version (3.2.0.1294).

This solved my album art problem:
I have the 3rd gen iPod nano and MM 3.0.3.1147.
Songs and art synced with iTunes went wrong when I used MM for syncing.
I removed all songs and videos with MM and imported my songs from hard drive to MM. Then synced all songs to iPod with MM and now all album art is showing perfectly. Sorry for my bad English. Hope you can understand at least something

I just did a database rebuild and all the art is now gone on my 160gb classic. I am tempted to restore the device and just move the music back using iTunes, and no longer using MM for transfer...but that is a painful option.

The art definitely still shows up in the MM window on the iPod when I am docked. This is a pretty frustrating bug!

mhh i have a few tracks where album art is missing.... which is even odder. mind you i do sync vids with itunes so maybe its that

While the latest Beta seems to have made the problem smaller, it still exists. On my Ipod Touch after a couple of syncs the art is either missing or getting scrambled on a few albums.
Unfortunately there is no "Rebuild Database" command for the Ipod Touch / Iphone in the current Betas.

It would appear that MM 3.0.2.1134's ipod sync is broken.
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems.
Do not know if I can help with the art work issue....
However, the needless re-synch is/was a known issue with 3.0.2.1134 that was fixed in one of the early 3.0.3 Betas.
I would suggest that you download the latest Beta/Release Candidate, 3.0.3.1162.
This should fix the needless synch issue and who knows, you may get lucky, and it might fix the Album Art issue.
Good luck.

After some further experience and making sure that iTunes never runs on my system I can now confirm that I am still having a problem with the album art getting trashed by MM sync'ing the iPod.

I completely initialized my iPod. I manually removed the database and cleared it out. I had MM re-sync my 4000+ songs and afterwards everything was right. The album art and everything.

Then in time I added more songs to my MM library and re-sync'd my iPod. The new songs were added but I started to see the occasional song with the wrong album art.

After a few more re-sync's that added 20-30 songs each I noticed that older songs were being included in the re-sync. Songs that had never changed. Album art was now getting throughly messed up on the iPod. I could play much older tunes that were originally sync'd but never updated and the album art was typically from a more recently added song.

I also ran some tests where I removed the iPod and then re-sync'd. Each time MM would re-sync about 70+ songs that I had added since the initialization of my iPod. The album art continued to get more messed up.

I can select Auto-sync and without there having been any chanegs to my MM music library, MM will re-sync the last 70+ songs since I initialized my iPod. I can do this over and over and I get the same result - the same 70+ songs get re-sync'd to my iPod even though there has been no change to my MM library.

I also keep getting asked to remove a bunch of playlists each time I re-sync. The list of playlists gets longer each time I have added songs to my MM library. Typically the dialog box to confirm removal of playlists such as:

Playlist: 31
Playlist: 29
Playlist: 10
: :

I usually confirm the deletion and if I re-sync immediately after the sync has completed it asks me to confirm deletion of the exact same set of playlists.

As I stated earlier in my post on 2/28/08:

I am using iPod v1.2.3 with MM 3.0.2.1134.

It would appear that MM 3.0.2.1134's ipod sync is broken.

Under the properties I checked:
syncing all album art to track folders and
copy album art to track tags

I reimported tracks into iTunes, resynched with ipod, and this seems to have done it

Thanks

I do not use iTunes so it has to be unrelated at least for me.

I just posted earlier. After some testing it appears that the device database file (iTunesDB) on the iPod is getting scrambled by iTunes - or MM depending on the way you look at it. If you use iTunes to copy videos to your iPod it will scramble the device database. The solution is to (a) shut down iTunes and (b) remove the old database (iTunesDB) on the device and have MM rebuild it. All of the album art will again be correct on the iPod. Unfortunately the side effect will be that MM will think it has to re-sync all of the audio files on the iPod as well the next time you want to sync it with MM.

I am using iTunes 7.6.1.9 and iPod v1.2.3 with MM 3.0.2.1134.

I too am wishing for the day when MM will also handle video. I'm going to give WinAmp a try at handling the video uploads to my iPod to see if the same device database corruption occurs.

Same problem is happening to me. MM 3.0.2.1134 and iPod Video 60G. Album art is all goofed up. This is a new problem that I was not having with the last release of MM (2.5.5). I am also experience MM re-syncing the same files over and over again - about 350 files. Each time I select Auto-sync in MM it copies the same files over to the iPod.

Any help would be appreciated.

I experience the album art problem as well (incorrect album art displayed by some tracks). Rebuilding device database did not help. I have a ipod classic 80Gb, and use the latest version of MM (3.0.3.1140)

by _dodger_ » Mon Feb 25, 2008 8:57 am

I am facing the same problem. Has been like this for a while but I never bothered to look for a solution.

Sometimes a rebuild of the device library helps sometimes it doesn't. I am using an iPod 30 GB and the latest Mediamonkey version.

I have the problem this very moment and multiple rebuilds didn't help.

Please tell me if I can help you investigating this.

I'm also seeing a bunch of weirdness.

Examples:
1. Cover Flow -- No covers from MM showing up
2. Album List -- Covers showing up
3. Artist View - covers inconsistently shown within each artist list
4. Now Playing - No covers shown from MM transferred files

I did NOT have the cover art options checked but have gone back in the ipod device options and done so; I am rebuilding the db as we speak.

Sorry, I am probably being a complete numpty but when I right click on iPod icon in the tree, I dont get the option to rebuild the device database.

(i get autosync, safely remove device...options, properties)

I have gone into the properties and checked:
sync all album art to track folders and
copy album art to track tags

what am I missing?
