There is nothing even close with smart playlists. Although, you could script them in MM. An iPod without iTunes only has half a brain playlist wise, since only LastPlayed and Rating update live on the ipod. Everything else requires a sync. However, i would much rather have that functionality in MM.

All. I've been using Anapod for ages now, and it just sh1ts all over iTunes. http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/

Enjoy!

Wow! YamiPod looks impressive

Lowlander,

I just checked out YamiPod and it looks pretty impressive. I may replace EphPod with that. I'm traveling this week, so I can't test it yet, but I'll be doing that soon since EphPod is still occasionally giving me memory access errors.

I also like that YamiPod is just a single EXE file and pretty lightweight at that.

I also sent the developer of YamiPod an e-mail telling him to find a way to work with MediaMonkey. Jiri and Rusty, perhaps you have some ideas. This looks promising.

Lowlander,

It doesn't. It needs the Winamp Media Library to synchronize with the iPod. But since that plugin and EphPod effectively tap into the iPod database (presumably by reverse engineering), I'm hoping it's only a brief matter of time before the Monkey or a plug-in for the Monkey does the same.

In the meantime, I'm using EphPod and MM's playlists to sync up my iPod.

@Telesain
Can you confirm that the ML_iPod works with MM and iPod?

by Lowlander » Thu Jan 06, 2005 12:23 pm

Here is 3rd party application that can access the iPod http://www.yamipod.com/yam_main.html. Maybe MM can join forces to open the iPod to MM.

Anapod explorer at least creates a namespace extension for the iPod and allows a bunch of other stuff.

iPod Plugin

by Telesain » Thu Dec 30, 2004 5:26 pm

My sister got an iPod Mini for christmas and guess WHO she gave it to to fill up? MOI!

Now, I can for the LOVE OF GOD not understand why so many people LOVE the ipod. Sure the player itself is amazing, but MAN DOES THE SW suck bigtime.....I hatet iTunes from the day i installed it on MY computer....

(WHY do people who don't own a computer want an iPod?)

NOW what I HAVE found ut is that there is an winAmp pluging called ML_iPod here [url]http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=138888[/url)....

I'm not aware of MM being able to do this (iPod is blocked this way by Apple). I'm also not sure if MM 2.3 will be able to do it. A special plugin will be needed for this.

In other words I think your stuck with iTunes for now. It's a pitty that Apple has decided to close the iPod down.

I've been searching the forum and can't find a topic that specifically addresses how to transfer my music library to my 4th generation iPod. I hate iTunes and would like to avoid using it. I tried clicking the 'send to device' button and selecting 'drive G' (which is what my iPod appears as), and it transferred all the files, but my iPod wouldn't recognize them. Is it even possible to transfer my songs, or do I have to wait until 2.3 is released? If it is possible, can someone please give me a step-by-step on how to do it. Thanks.
