multiple devices

Apparently, your device is probably branded in several different players. We'll figure something out before RC-2.

FYI, same problem with same device using Win XP Pro SP0.

Since RC1, as soon i plug my MP3 player (generic mass storage, ID = "VID_03EB&PID_2002", type = "SND1_Storage", drive H:, OS = W2K SP4) it is added to the tree and another device node named "Finis SwiMP3 (H: )" is also added...

I did not configured such a device! I can handle both equally, removing one also removes the other one. Removing d_SwiMP3.dll solves the problem.
